No heartbeat detected at 7 weeks?

Following successful IVF we went for our 7 week viability scan today and were told that although the measurements seem all ok they couldn't detect a heartbeat. We have been booked into the early pregnancy unit next week for another scan to try again to detect a heartbeat. Has anyone been through this situation before? We are trying not to worry but given we have no frosties in the freezer and no more NHS funding I am panicking!

Hi Sausagedog

I haven’t been through this myself to offer you a personal experience but I have heard lots on here that sometimes 7 weeks is too early to hear the heartbeat.

I know it must be worrying for you but hang in there and I will be hoping with everything crossed for you that you get the reassurance next week.

Love and strength

We went through this before (we had twins detected) and at the 9 week scan we had 1 heartbeat but lost the other. But we now have a healthy baby girl from that one surviving embryo so all is not lost! Sometimes they are so small the heartbeat needs an extra week or two. Fingers crossed for you! X

Oh no, so sorry you’ve had this news today. I hope next weeks scan brings better news.

I have no advice but sending you lots of positive thoughts that it may all be ok xx

Hopefully there will be a heartbeat next week sometime it’s just a little too soon xx 🙏🏼

Thanks for your messages and support everyone. KittyK thanks for sharing your experience, congrats on your little girl! Roll on next week and the scan, think it will feel like a long week though! Yet more time at the hosptial, with IVF you get used to almost living there! X

Really hope next week has better news xx

Hi All, sadly at our scan at the early pregnancy unit today they confirmed there was still not a heart beat and our baby has passed. We have chosen to do an EPRC next week

Aw, honey, I'm so sorry. This does not sound great. I really hope I'm wrong. It would make a lot of sense to get the scans done. I hope somehow it's all good. Sending you my support and love. Keep us posted. x

The heartbeat shows up about 6 weeks but can take up to 8 weeks to see it ( slightly later implantation for example). Try to stay positive x
