Anyone going through ivf at either Dundee or Glasgow Royal? If so, how long did you wait before treatment from initial referral? Any experiences worth sharing? I’d love to hear.
Dundee or Glasgow Royal: Anyone going... - Fertility Network UK
Dundee or Glasgow Royal
Had 1st ICSI on NHS in Dundee (aged 41) with 2 embryos transferred which was unsuccessful. Due to my age, any further cycles had to be private.
Waited about 6 months for NHS from deciding to have IVF to starting the treatment.
Privately, it was about 1 month from initial consultation to the injection which is the start of the treatment. The treatment has to be paid for before it starts.
At Glasgow we recently had our 2nd ICSI with a transfer of one embryo, resulting in a positive pregnancy test (aged 42) which was great, but then sadly a missed miscarriage at 6 weeks, diagnosed at the 8 week scan.
In the middle of our first (and only) NHS cycle at Glasgow Royal. My referral went in at the end of March 2018 and the first appointment was in May. Next appointment wasn’t until October, and I just started my injections on the 1st Feb. It’s all going quickly now tho, I’ll have EC sometime next week 🤞🏼
Good luck for EC, hope all goes to plan!
Thanks! Was hoping for a Monday EC but at the scan today they said I wasn’t quite ready, so need to go back for another scan on Sunday. I’m just getting impatient now as the drugs are making me feel exhausted and sh*te!
Good luck for when you start!
Hopefully waiting will be worth it in the long run. I’ll have my fingers crossed for you. Going in for another lap on 27th March then I’m going on the list after that. Hopefully. Sounds like 6 months from referral to treatment starting on average.
Thanks 😊 I think the impatience comes from waiting so long...I’ve tried clomid, had a laparoscopy, got divorced (!), met my fiance, had to lose 2 stone to qualify for ivf and now finally I’m on my one and only round and I just want to know the outcome 😬 Patience has never been my strong point!
At my first appointment in Glasgow they told me the waiting list was 5 months, then you have all your blood tests etc in the run up to actually starting. Hopefully once you get your laparoscopy done you can get on the list. Wishing you all the best for you journey.
We were Dundee & were about 6 months on the waiting list. We had about 6 months with initial tests at the unit (e.g. x-ray scans to check the tubes), & me losing the extra weight. We then got on the waiting list and had about about another 6month wait. We then had three rounds within roughly a 13 month period.
Wow. 3 rounds in 13 months is intense. Had a wee peak at your page and seen your good news. Congratulations n positivity for you. I’m awaiting 3rd laparoscopy in 10 months. I’m getting surgery in Glasgow and was hoping to get ivf there as feeling familiar now but apparently my funding is Dundee.
Aww thank you!! Aye- it was intense looking back and although I was getting impatient in-between rounds 2-3, I did need the break of 5 months! Took a wee bit of getting used to "suddenly" being pregnant! Some lovely lovely nurses in Dundee - some staff can *initially* seem scary and abrupt but they're all actually good!!! The mags are updated monthly in the waiting room and there is proper filter coffee there too - I know it's good to keep caffiene levels down but I always adapted cuppies (less / strict with decaf) for the rest of the day just so I could have a decent proper coffee there. A girl needs some treats when going through the process!!
We were referred in January last year and had an appt in March. Our first round would have been September but it was put on hold due to an abnormal smear. Had one round in January which failed but waiting for clinic to get in touch now to arrange FET.
All the staff have been lovely throughout the whole process x
I had my treatment in Dundee. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful but he two girls I cycled with had success. It was a while ago but we were referred in the Nov and started a cycle in the April.xx
