I know we don’t talk clinics but I’m wondering if anyone has experience with any of the clinics in Glasgow as a private patient? I’ve been told that’s my only option of trying again due to my age. I can go to any but was wondering about success rates etc! They all “claim” to be the best! All advice welcome on msgs please and thanks!! 💕 xx

Hi Squeak2 - welcome!! I have only attended private clinic in Glasgow - which is GCRM. They seem to have a higher success rate than others ( I haven't been successful yet so I'm probably bringing the rate down just now!!) The staff in there are lovely and are really all in your side. Plus the appointments are all first thing in the morning so doesn't interfere too much with work! x

Hi we looked at GCRM they were great. We went to Poland instead because of waiting times for what we needed but although so far we have been successful. I found everyone there lovely, experiences and very professional. Good luck xx

Glasgow Royal have a non-profit clinic linked to the NHS assisted conception service. We paid to have an initial consultation as we had been led to believe the NHS waiting lists were long however they were great and advised us to do NHS route first as it wasn’t as long as we thought.

Their success rates are comparable to private clinics and costs are lowers

I have had a good look online at GCRM , Nuffield and Glasgow royal ( private side ) they base the success rates on different thing cycles to birth rate and embryo to Birth rate. On looking at both of these both the Nuffield and GCRM are above national average but we went with GCRM as they had higher rate for cycles per birth !

We have had consultation , bloods and they have taken all the test results I had done as NHS patient on board so no more testing ! Just consents appt on the 19th to learn about medication and I’m good to go !! Good luck deciding x

Can I ask how you got all your Nhs records? Do you get them sent to you or your chosen Climic? We are thinking of doing the same & Glasgow based x

I went to GP and asked for a print out and they gave me them no bother they also done my rubella , thyroid checks and we just paid for the HIV Hep B checks as that’s something that they all do before treatment starts so cut costs for us !! X

Hi Squeak2. We’re having to go privately too because of age. We initially went to GCRM but changed to Glasgow Royal. They also do morning appointments for the scans or late evenings for consents. The reason we changed was we felt GCRM treated us a number and were only interested in the financial side. They were really pushy with all their added extra tests and options and it was really unclear to us what we actually needed.

Just our experience and I’m sure lots have had good experiences with them. So far we can’t fault the Royal. Just had embryo transfer today so on the dreaded 2ww! Good luck whatever you decide.

Oh wow, good luck!! I remember the wait and found it rather slow when everything else seemed to go soo fast!! We decided on staying with GR as they have all the info and straws there already. I phoned and they have said we can start as soon as a protocol is arranged! thanks for your reply and good luck 💕 xx
