Just wondered whether anyone had paid to have this and if so what ur thoughts were. Our clinic have started to do it and does sound great but obv there is an extra cost involved so just wanted anyone’s thoughts.
Def am having my EC now after much back and forth and changes with stims. My hormone levels have reduced yay! See what tomorrow and the rest of the week brings.
Any thoughts on embryo scope would be much appreciated👍☺️

We enquired about this and our consultant didn’t seem convinced that it’s very helpful. I read somewhere though that I can be helpful for older patients whereas in younger ones doesn’t make any difference. We decided not to go for it. All the best xx
Thank u for this. That good to know. Yeah that the thing am thinking is it an extra thing that worth it.
Ur eggs do ok without?
Ours did last time tbh and we are young so may be ok in that way. One those things just wanna give everything the best shot but sounds debatable that it worth it then ☺️🤔🤔
Yes, my egg were ok - 13 mature and fertilised, 8 blastocysts. Unfortunately my AA embryo didn’t implant. I think it depends how much money you wanted to spend on add-ons. Most of them are not investigated properly yet so it’s hard to tell. Sometimes is the matter of trying different things. We went for scratch and IMSI. I think IMSI made a big difference for us but I definitely won’t be doing the scratch again.
Hi there, we used embryoscope for our latest round.
We had some great pics, and the embryos are undisturbed, but it didn’t lead to a BFP for us. Our first round without we got further, but I had a miscarriage.
Hey thanks for ur input so sorry about ur miscarriage. I have been there.
Thanks you xx
We had this as was included in our access package. The benefits are that they can watch to see if the cells divide as they should as the embryo grows and the embryos are undisturbed at each check. We had 4 blastocysts from 7 fertilised. Our grade A ended in a mmc of identical twins. My remaining frozen embryos are graded B,C,C. I was told the Cs have been graded this way because although they look good now they were multi nucleated early in their development and they would not have known this if not for having the Embryoscope. We have still been given a 40% chance with each of these grade C’s. So I have no idea if embryoscope has been worthwhile for us as our apparent best embryo as determined by embryoscope was not the one for us and we are yet to try with the rest x
Thank you aprilmama for your response. That’s some good outcomes for you. So hope it successful next time for you🤞🤞sorry to hear about your mmc.
It does appear to make sense as the embryos are in the incubator undisturbed. But so hard to know if really does make a diff or not .Oh always hard to say a but may be worth a shot.
We also had as part of our Access package with donor eggs. As we have a known sperm fragmentation issue it was useful to have the additional information to assess the full development, rather than just Day 3 and Day 5. In our first round there was a lot of fragmentation at Day 3, which had then disappeared at Day 5 but was taken into account in the overall grading. Our first cycle failed but this cycle there has been much less fragmentation which gives us a little bit more reassurance that it may not all be down to the sperm.
I think the embryoscope is a tricky one. I had it, but it didn’t contribute towards the decision about what order to implant embryos in as that was fairly clear from their grading. I do like the idea of the embryos being undisturbed but don’t really know whether it makes a difference or not. I think where the embryoscope really comes into it’s own is if you have a number of embryos of similar quality that you need to decide between in which case how they got there is a factor. The other thing it could be good for is if all the embryos divide in a strange way on the way to becoming embryos it can identify an underlying issue that you may not be aware of. The other far more minor thing that’s good about it is that if you get a BFP you get a cool little video of your embryo’s journey from implantation to blasto. I think all you can do is consider the cost of it vs your history of ivf and whether you think there are any indications of underlying issues (for us we knew sperm was an issue so I wanted to see if the eggs did fertilise and divide normally). Good luck whatever you decide.
Hi I had two rounds of icsi . Didn’t use the embryoscope first round and ended up with two five days blasts - didn’t work . When I went back to the clinic for second round I asked about the scratch- the consultant said if we were paying for anything then try the embryoscope . It costs £700 extra but we went for it . It allows the embryos to be undisturbed for the five days . We had a better outcome with three blasts . Had one put back and I now have a little boy . We have two frozen . To me it was worth every penny so I would recommend it as it’s the only difference we made from the first round x x
