Any thoughts on this? Should we do it just incase or just when needed? Im thinking of doing it, thats if my eggs do their thing this time!

Hi Purplewitch,

My clinic doesn’t do a lot of the ‘add ons’ as they don’t consider them beneficial but they do embryo glue as standard with all transfers. Guess that means they think it’s worthwhile! 😂

Hey, my nhs clinic included it as standard in my previous rounds, now we are going private we have decided we will have it again. The consultant didnt push us at all, but for an added extra i thought it wasnt too expensive xx

Thanks girls, because of the cycle im

On im not sure if its included or not 🤔, i read an article about it today which made me think x

I had it for the first time this cycle and it didn’t work. My new clinic do it as a standard but didn’t work for us x

Hi. Im not that far along but heared that my clinic does it as standard (they say because of the good results). Sending love.

Thanks guys xx

Hey I asked my consultant to try embryo glue and it turned out they had used it every time anyway! 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s just the liquid they put the embryos in xx

Yes i looked it up, but cant find it anywhere on the actual cycle price list, its listed under additional services but no mention on the actual price list for this. I will ask about it after egg collection, thanks Daisy xx

in reply toPurplewitch18

My place have a second type of embryo glue which is an additional cost but they only use of for specific cases. So standard one is included and different one is something like £300 xx

Ahh ok, ill be surprised if its not standard then as it seems to be at most clinics now xx

I don’t have any experience to offer but the HFEA website has a guide to additional add ons & the evidence behind it. hfea.gov.uk/treatments/expl...

Hope this helps xxx

Hey we had this after our fresh ended in chemical and we got a bfp with our frostie ❄️❤️ I had acupuncture the day before and walked out and felt like I was floating, ate what I wanted through the duration, quit my job and was signed off sick, so who knows if it was just trying to be relaxed, as I already believed we wouldnt be lucky to get a bfp twice in a row.

Our thought was that it would be cheaper to add it on that pay for a whole cycle if this or the third frostie didn't work! We didn't get hard sold it, they pretty much said on our first go, don't even bother with it and that people tend to go for it who haven't managed to catch. I wish you all the luck and hope that this time is your time ❤️🍀🤞 xxx

Thankyou Holly, and congrats on your bfp! My clinics not even mentioned it but we didnt get to that point before so maybe thats why. I think id rather have it than not have it, i agree its cheaper than another cycle. Ive not had a problem with implantation before as far as i know, i could have had some chemicals in the past which werent confirmed though, but want to give it the best chance. Im worried we wont get anything to transfer, but i guess everyone worries about that. 2 days to go till egg collection 🤞🏼xx

There really is no guessing about how many is there, my friend had the similar numbers to me and ended up with about 7 left to use, where we went from 24 follicles, 16 collected, 9 mature and only 3 fertilised. It's just luck of the draw I think, you could get all of yours to day 5!

Whatever you end up with is out of your control so it's a case of rolling with the punches hey? Even if you had 20 collected or just 1, there's nothing to say the other 19 would have even worked. Because it's true what they say, it really does only take one. Hang in there and all the best for Monday xxx❤️

We paid £155 for embryo glue. Although nhs funded we are at a private clinic. We had a 5 day transfer and so far it's very early days but its stuck and we are about 5 weeks pregnant. I read somewhere that the glue increases your chances by about 10%. Theres an god article hfea.gov.uk/treatments/expl... where its explains all the add ons in detail I found helpful when I was undecided

I saw your worried you wont have anything to transfer. Stay positive. We only got one cycle funded. We had 4 eggs and 2 fertilised but only one made it to day 5. It only takes 1🤞🏼 everything crossed for you.

Thankyou Luce and i know youre totally right! I guess its because of my age aswel and egg quality etc. Though ive been on ubiquinol, royal jelly and lots of others for a long time now, and reagardless of fertillity im dairy and gluten free, and chemical toxin free, i even clean my house with white vinegar and essential oils. Plastic free, all of that so my eggs in theory should be super eggs!😂, but they are still 40 years old. Back at 34 when i had my daughter seems a lifetime ago. But you are right it only takes one. There could only be 5 eggs max having 5 follices and being on very low stimulation, so im not expecting miracles. And i do feel much more positive about this cycle than the last one. Its great to hear it worked out for you, and does make me feel better so thankyou ❤️

I had just assumed that all add-ons probably weren't worth it as sufficient research hasn't been done on them yet and if they worked then the clinics would want to do them and include them as standard. It's interesting to know that some other people's clinics use embryo glue as standard (mine doesn't).

hfea.gov.uk/treatments/expl...

HFEA has a traffic light system for the add-ons and they haven't rated any as green (should be used routinely).

Interesting isnt it thaf a lot seem to use it as standard. I just think that if it didnt stick i know id think “well maybe if we had had the embryo glue??”. Im not interested in the other add ons, most of which dont apply to a 2 day transfer anyway x

Yeah, I know what you're saying. Embryo glue is probably the only one I'd consider (maybe maybe a scratch, but I would worry about infection). It would just help if they actually did some studies on these things so they could advise us properly. It seems like a lot of this is just left up to our best guess work!

Yes i know. I did read the 10% thing, and one of my clients got offered it the second round with a low grade embryo and that one stuck. I guess id rather waste a couple of hundred than not know xx

My clinic’s research says it makes no difference so I never had it x

I had glue and the scratch with my last round and it didn’t work. I also had nothing the first time and that didn’t work either but have seen lots of people in here who it has worked for. Personally I don’t think I’d do either again, good luck whatever you decide xxx

I had the glue and scratch first time fresh cycle which worked, last year the same and didn’t work. This time only the glue no scratch and worked with frozen x
