Hi everyone! I’m new here 🙋🏻♀️ I am so happy to have found a support forum. I’m based in Kent, is anyone else? Anyone here suffering from secondary infertility? We fell pregnant very quickly with our first in Feb 2015, and now ttc for 14 months. Berating myself for not trying earlier - assumed we would be fine. Looking at the IVF route now. All tests fine- seemingly nothing wrong anywhere albeit a lower than preferred AMH of 7.7. Does anyone know how much this number can vary?
Hi Hannah! Welcome to the forum 👍🏼 We are also suffering secondary infertility and there’s a few other ladies on here in the same position. Our son was conceived easily and after 12 months of trying for #2 we found out my husbands sperm count was/is pretty much non existent, which was a total shock to us both! A bit like you, we kicked ourselves for not trying sooner. We also focussed on me having the issues rather than him! We’ve just had our 3rd transfer, 2 years after we starting trying and have been lucky to get a positive. The journey is tough, especially with a toddler in tow but it’s not impossible. I’m so happy that you’ve gotten a positive, congratulations!!!! I’m nervous about the decision but we see our consultant next month to see what to do. Did you have fresh cycles or frozen? I must admit I have much research to do. It is at least useful “KNOW” where the issue lies. We still don’t know as all tests indicate there is no issue I am convinced implantation issue as have noticed lots of things since we started trying (pains around implantation, pink when wipe, boob pain(didn’t happen pre trying) two chemicals & nothing! I’m 37 and turn 38 in March so put it down to egg quality - and quantity. Thank you so much for sharing your positive story and good luck with everything Xxxx
Hi, I’m not local to you but we are also suffering secondary infertility. We had no tests first time round and persevered for well over 2 years when I fell pregnant with my almost 5 year old daughter naturally. I put it down to stress etc as I fell pregnant after a lovely holiday. We started trying again when she was 2 and decided to look into it after about a year. It turns out my partners sperm count is only 1-2million per ml so have started ICSI. First cycle resulted in twin mmc and I’m currently prepping for a FET but it’s not going to plan! Good luck! Xx

Hi Aprilmama! Thanks for getting in touch! Why is nature so cruel! Good luck for your FET. How long does it take to actually start the IVF after first appointment?
I’m hoping it is just time / age as hubs is fine, and I seem to be. Had a horrendous birth with my daughter 3 years ago and I’m wondering if there’s something in that 🤷🏻♀️ who knows. Good luck to you too! X

Hi, with our current clinic we had our first consultation mid July and started down reg mid August, egg collection and transfer mid September. Not sure if being private, paying patients made a difference. (We had a bad experience at another clinic before finding out current clinic which did delay things). We also had semen analysis, basic pelvic scan and bloods done on the NHS before going private.
Yes it’s all very cruel, the waiting, the Unknown’s and the loss is very intense and I am not coping well. Now I am trying to think of myself as one of the lucky ones because I have a beautiful healthy daughter, I have had a healthy pregnancy and felt that love. Although I long to give her a sibling it may break me doing so and I have given myself a limit of 3 full cycles x

Hi Aprilmama I’m not sure how I missed your reply here so sorry. I don’t come on too often. I hope this are going ok for you. It really is a horrible thing and like you, feeling all the gratitude for having my daughter. We have decided to start IVF, and start mid May with some medication from end April, trying to get my head around it; how we are here, what’s going on in my body; and why! I hope that all is going well for you xx

Hello and welcome. As for the numbers, I found this on the internet~ AMH is a protein hormone produced by special cells inside the follicles. The level of AMH in the blood can help doctors estimate the total number of follicles inside the ovaries, and therefore a woman’s total egg count. Because AMH levels stay basically stable throughout a cycle, the blood test can be performed at any time. A typical AMH level for a fertile woman is 1.0–4.0 ng/ml, but, depending on age, many women will be higher or lower than this range.
