Hope you’re all doing ok. Back after a bit of a break following our first ICSI cycle, which was unsuccessful.
Will be starting hormones in Jan again to prep for a FET (will be putting two frozen embryos back in this time).
Wanted to ask if anyone knew anything about lubion? Have been offered it instead of the pessaries (for an extra £1k all in, as have to take it up until 12 weeks - the rest is free as on NHS). But haven’t advised if I should actually take it or not as they are ‘not allowed to recommend’.
I don’t really know what to do - does anyone know anything about lubion and if it’s worth it? Any success stories based on it?
Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks so much xx

I’ve just started lubion and hopefully will be on it for a while if we get a BFp.
Did you bleed early in your first cycle before OTD?
There’s a lot of research to say that higher progesterone doses and injection vs pessaries are better absorbed so if you have recurrent issues then it’s certainly worth trying.
£1000 Is a lot for 12 weeks!
2 of us on here are paying between £55-65 /week so would come to £6-700 for 12 weeks(!)
I would take a private prescription and ask around pharmacies and stork fertility service (which has good stock levels)
You will need the subcutaneous injection kit alongside it which is about 50p per kit (syringe and 2 needles)
They are very easy to inject- easier than cetrotide if you’ve used that as no mixing required.
Except for my first and one before this transfer, I did lubion. On the last transfer before this one they didn’t offer it me. Put me on utrogestan three times daily instead of cyclogest x2 and lubion x1. I bled before otd. Never happened before in the 4 previous transfers. So this time I asked for my cyclogest back. And my lubion. This tww I’ve got another bfp. Try the lubion. You’ve got nothing to lose xx
Next clinic didn’t seem impressed with utrogestan but sung praises for cyclogest and catergorically told me I would not bleed on it.
I trusted them after weeks of protest knowing I needed more progesterone . I didn’t bleed on cyclogest... until the night before OTD 😞
New consultant said cyclogest 2x day and lubion 1x day too.
I’m Hoping this is third time lucky for us too.
Why on earth would they put you on utrogestan when other cycles were fine. Honestly they make me so angry sometimes the way they treat us like guinea pigs 😤
They gave us some speech about how much easier it is to use and was becoming a popular choice over cyclogest because it was less messy. Not that they asked me which I’d prefer.. xx
My first cycle I was on cyclogest twice a day and started bleeding 8 days past transfer. The consultant said this was likely my body recognising I wasn’t pregnant but agreed to let me do lubion as well next time.
This time round I was doing cyclogest twice a day and lubion injections twice a day. We got our BFP ur we also changed the trigger in my protocol so I don’t know what made the difference or if it was just luck 🤷🏼♀️.
The clinic wanted me to stop all progesterone as soon as I got my positive. I wasn’t comfortable with that so they agreed to me carrying on the cyclogest. When I went to pick it up they had given me like 5 boxes of lubion as well. I’ve not used this mainly because my stomach was too tender for any more injections. Don’t know what the etiquette for it is but I could send you them if you want x
Thanks everyone, really interesting. I was on 3 x cyclogest pessaries a day last time and didn’t bleed before OTD. However I do usually spot for 5-7 days before my period usually. Would you do the lubion if you were me? X
I was put on lubion plus uterogestan pressaries on my last cycle which was the only successful one after 3 before that came back with bfp and high HCG tests but followed by spontaneous bleed after a couple of days. I believe the lubion although painful at first, it was worth it. I believe it helped to sustain my pregnancy to 12 weeks and thereafter I continued on uterogestan orally plus cyclogest pressaries until 24 weeks. My baby is now 21 weeks old. I hope this helps.
Thanks all! Final question, the nurse said most people stop after getting positive pregnancy test and don’t carry on until 12 weeks? Is that right? I’m sure the doctor told me I’d have to take until then. It doesn’t seem right to have a massive drop in the hormone so early on in the pregnancy? I’ve been told it’s £8 per injection and it would be twice a day, so potentially really pricey! X
Hiya, my clinic had me on twice a day cyclogest and lubion injections (2) a day. This is because you can't predict level of absorbancy of the pessaries ...so injections are very effective. Had I got a BFP in that cycle I would have had to take lubion injections and pessaries until week 12. The clinic said it was to enable the body to build up enough natural progesterone. Good luck.. yes I bought my lubion from Asda too as it was cheaper.. I had a load of spare needles and syringes from all the meds the clinic gave me. Their box of lubion was £94 compared to Asda £55...
