Yes, I had it done during my first cycle as part of a study the hospital were doing. It didn't work for me and I got a bfn. Didn't get it offered to me this time round but I would do if again if offered. I would try anything to be honest!

I wil be on my third transfer and all ended up with BFN but i did get caugh naturally so they have added it to this cycle xx

I’ve had this 2/5 cycles both of them unsuccessful compared to BFPs the other 3 (sadly 2 ending in mmc). For me I don’t think it’s worth it but if it’s something you haven’t tried before I don’t think there’s any harm trying it, my consultant was always very keen on it xx

I had one with my first cycle, ours unfortunately ended in a chemical pregnancy!! I didn’t have one with my fet but I’ve had another with my second cycle xx

I’ve done 4 scratches in 6 transfers. I did have two bfps but I also had two bfns so I’m not convinced by scratches anymore. I didn’t get one this time.

If you’ve not had one before though it’s probably worth a try xx

Obviously it is personal preference, and some doctors are adamant that it makes a difference. I was offered one, as my hospital clinic is involved in a study about it. However I did my research and said study is actually now leaning towards saying that it doesn't actually improve chances, so is not worth extra cost / pain of the procedure. I'll see if I can find that link for you if you want? Incidentally, I got my BFP without scratch. Xx

I’ve had it done but it didn’t work for me so next time round I will try without it. I’m a bit put off by the fact that you have to take antibiotics after the procedure to prevent an infection. This is definitely not great for the gut and the good bacteria. My nutritionist claimed that probiotics and healthy microbiome help with implantation so I will try to focus on gut healthy food next time. But if you haven’t tried it before then you might want to consider it, you never know, it might make a difference. X

Interesting. My clinic gives the antibiotics after the scratch but it looks like it varies. It looks like most clinics prescribe the antibiotics after the EC but I know girls who didn’t take anything.

Hi there, I haven’t had one before, but my consultant asked if I’d like to give it a go this time round. This will be my 4th attempt (1 x miscarriage, 1 x bfn and 1 x chemical).

I’m not convinced it’ll work, but it’s relatively cheap in the grand scheme of things, so wil give it a go! 💕 xx

Hi Mrsplant,on my first ivf I didn't have it done because I didn't kno abt it I got a bfn that time. Second time I did it and I'm pregnant because they said it helps with implantation. Tomorrow is my test day at the hospital. So it worked for me

Yes... done it with every single cycle together with glue 👍 implantation every time... cannot say it was just down to scratch+glue combo but worth the try 👍

I’ve had two successful cycles. One without the scratch and then one with the scratch. We weren’t offered a scratch on our NHS cycle so didn’t have it but luckily it worked regardless. We’ve just gone back as private patients and I requested one, the consultant said I didn’t need one but nevertheless as I was paying for the treatment and its extra he allowed me to have it. My cycle was successful but cannot say if it was because of the scratch. I like to say it was, it makes me feel better about having it! xx

If they think its your lining then I’d definitely try it, especially if you’re yet to have a successful cycle. My take on it is, its worth a shot and you’ve got nothing to lose. It’s over in 5 mins. Wishing you best of luck! xx

Well i had my scratch done and OMG it killed anyone who says it doesnt the 1st time round must b made of steel

If I’m honest, I don’t think it’s worth it. I was offered it in my first IVF cycle but all the science has been done in women on their 2nd or more cycles so I opted against it. I did it last summer before my 2nd cycle which didn’t go ahead, so it was a complete waste of money. I’ve since read up more about it and to be honest, as a scientist I’m not convinced. It’s painful, expensive and the scientific stats don’t stack up enough for me to give it my backing. Just my opinion of course! Personally, I don’t think it should be an added extra, if the science was strong enough wouldn’t you think the NHS would pay for it as it would increase their success rates. They don’t cover it on the NHS - we need to ask ourselves why!

That’s reassuring that the nhs included yours on your protocol. Mine was an added extra and I needed to go under sedation so it cost me £380.

You are lucky, my experience was very different. They think they may have nicked a nerve as when I came round from sedation I was in so much pain my body went into shock & I passed out. It took a while to get on top of the pain. Personally, i wouldn’t do it again but I’m aware that not every ones experience is anything like mine.
