Moving forward..FET after mmc

We have a follow up consultation booked in December. We had a MMC of twins medically managed which is now just complete and are starting to think about next steps. Does anybody have experience of how quickly we can move forward with a FET? I’m really hopeful we can start from my next period x

Hi Aprilmama. I’m sorry to hear of your MMC. It’s such a heartbreaking time but I’m glad to see you’re thinking of the future and your next FET.

We’ve also just been through a MMC and at our follow up, we were advised we could start on our third period. They said the first period is classed as a withdrawal bleed, the second we will discuss treatment plan and the third is the month to start. I did push at my clinic and managed to get the Director to sign me off on period number 2; however, it falls over the Christmas period so we’ll end up going on the 3rd one anyway!!

I guess all clinics differ so I hope they allow you to start sooner rather than later xx

Thank you for your reply. I’m sorry you are dealing with this too. We are in a much better place than we were 2 weeks ago and I’m starting to feel ready to move forward. 3 cycles seems such a long time when I am not getting any younger! Good luck with your transfer, hopefully the next one will be the one! Xx

I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, they are truly devastating.. My clinic stipulated that I needed to have a period after my MMC (which happened naturally after I stopped meds) before I could start again. I took 3 months off in the end because of a holiday we had planned but if it wasn’t for that, I would have jumped straight back in.. Best wishes for your next go xxx

So sorry for you loss, after my first mmc my clinic said I had to wait 3 cycles to start an FET but then did actually let me start from my 3rd bleed. Wishing you all the best for your future treatment x

My clinic have said I can call on day 1 of my first period following the miscarriage. Which is what I’m waiting for now so I can start again. I’ll be doing a long protocol FET with down regulation. Tbh I just want to get on with it xx

Thank you, this is what I’m hoping for, I just feel the need to get on with it too. We talked a bit about FET on our initial consultation and I think our clinic does long too x

With long protocol you transfer about 8 weeks after the consenting appointment and still have one more bleed after your period before they transfer. So plenty of time to get the lining back to good condition again xx

Yes that sounds like the plan I was given, so still a long way off but at least once I start drugs I feel like we are moving forward at least xx
