Feeling a bit crap ๐Ÿ˜”

I have been a bit of a lurker, sorry! But its so much help just knowing you are all here and that there are people who understand.

Had our planning appointment today following removal of both tubes in July, and our funding being approved. I was expecting to be told we couldn't get a cycle in before Christmas, so that wasn't a surprise to hear, and we'll be on short protocol which sounds good (I think!) But then the nurse said my TSH is too high at 4.3 so they want me to go on meds to bring it down. That's fine, but it just feels like every appointment I go to, there is a new issue! Almost like they have this big list and save them up to use one by one, making the whole process feel like it's taking forever!! I know that's not actually the case, but it's so hard every time you think you might actually be getting somewhere and then there is another reason to delay ๐Ÿ˜’ Not looking for advice really, just needed to vent. Hubby is working this evening so just been sitting here feeling rubbish about it all.

Has anyone got any idea how long it will take for TSH to come down? Will be seeing GP next week to get 50mg prescription.

Thanks all x

Hello! It always feels better to write it down and get it out. I didn't want to read and not say anything. I don't know how long it will take but I am sure someone will.

What I can say is that, whilst it's annoying, they are just making sure all is perfect for you when you do start. It's worth it.

It may coincide with when you could have started anyway.

Wishing you all the best with your journey, and welcome to posting world xx

Thanks lovely. It really does help to just write it down sometimes! And you may be right, hopefully the meds will get the level down in time to start in January.

Thanks for the read and reply ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry for the frustrations - they do like to keep moving the goal posts! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I don't know about the thyroid meds but having just done the short protocol I can indeed confirm that it is short! Everything seems to go really fast once you start. I went from first injection to embryo transfer in about 16 days. Hope that helps! Good luck xx

Wow, that is short! Just had a peek at your posts - congrats on getting so many lovely embies, and huge amounts of luck. Fingers crossed you've got a sticky one on board!

Hey lovely, sorry youโ€™re feeling a bit crap. The run up to IVF feels like an eternity but once you start the protocol itโ€™s pretty quick and youโ€™re so focused on each day that it becomes all consuming. It will be fine I promise xx as for the thyroid, it took me to bring it from 2.6 to 1.3 in six weeks but I was on 25mg so u suspect 50 mg will probably be quicker. It didnโ€™t hold anything up as I took the thyroxine at the same time as the protocol and then retested six weeks after I started. I still take them - first thing in the morning I barely notice them :)

Good luck with everything and stay strong xxx

Hi there, I canโ€™t really answer your question but I just wanted to say I know how frustrating all the waiting to get started can be. As Camillage said, they want to make sure everything is just right for you to ensure your cycle has the best chance of leading to a healthy pregnancy. Glad you wrote it all down, I think that really helps a lot. Keep us all posted on how things are going for you xx

Hi there. I had mild thyroid issues too. Hopefully in 4-6 weeks all will be fine. They like it under 2.5 x

My TSH was 4.69 and it took around 3 months to get under 2 which is what my clinic wanted it at. I felt much better after I started on meds, much less tired so hopefully this will help lift you too! I know what you mean when there always seems to be something that slows it all down, its massively frustrating! Hugs.xx

Thanks lovely, there seem to have been lots of people with a similar situation and lots of positive outcomes on the TSH front so feeling more hopeful! I'd never really thought about the fact that I'm permanently cold, sleepy and have all sorts of joint pain in spite of being relatively fit and healthy - will be interesting to see if the meds make any difference!

Ah sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish. I am also on 50mg of thyroxine and I guess it took about 6 weeks to sort out. It will come down in no time and if you are not starting before xmas anyway, you should be fine for the New Year. Ideally you should be under 2.5 so you really haven't got far to go.

Wishing you all the best

x

Hi KW83,

Iโ€™m really sorry to hear your journey had been so stressful and difficult so far. The waiting can be awful.

Before I began, my TSH was at 3.1. I was put on 25mg Levothyroxine and retested 2 weeks later and my TSH was at 1.6! Another month after that and itโ€™s at 1.0 with the addition of 50mg 2x/week. Everyone responds a bit differently, but itโ€™s certainly possible to be back in the range they want before you begin in the new year.

Iโ€™ve been on the short protocol too and just had my egg collection today. Itโ€™s gone by so fast and everything has really been a lot easier than I expected.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Hugs. Xx
