Hey everyone,

So pleased I’ve found this group 😊

Here’s a brief insight of my journey so far;

We’ve been trying for a baby around 4 years (had and having plenty of thought I was/am pregnant but then AF always shows) 😞 after two years of trying I went to the doctors for tests then was referred to the fertility clinic and done more testing. They diagnosed me with unexplained infertility. I’m now on the waiting list for IVF.

I do feel like there’s something wrong so I went back to doctors for blood test and it turns out my fetterin levels are at 10

I’ve read that’s really low and should ideally be above 50. I’m on iron tablets now so I’m hoping that’s what’s been wrong. Anyone else have experience on this?

Hi and welcome to the group. I was also diagnosed first as unexplained then got diagnosis of low amh by another clinic as went down further after 2 years but I’m sorry after all the tests ive had I’ve never actually heard of or come across fetterin? Good luck x

Hello, thanks for getting back to me. I don’t know why but don’t think it’s really tested unless you get blood test to check it.

Hey there welcome to the forum! During my icsi cycle in June this year, I found out that my levels had dropped to 15%, and yes 50% Is normal so my gp told me. I asked my clinic whether my levels being this low would have any impact on my cycle and they said no and were not concerned about it as I was taking iron tablets. I also posted asking the ladies on here whether it would impact on my egg quality (please feel free to read my post). It is only in the last month that I have felt more myself so it has taken me a while to get back to feeling normal. I hadn't realised how long I had felt bad because of my low levels. And I have no idea how long my levels were low for. Has your doctor asked for you to have another blood test in a few weeks time after taking the iron tablets? xx

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I’ve to go back in a few weeks for another blood test so it will be interesting to know what my levels are at now as I’ve been taking iron tables for a couple months now. I’ve read too that having low levels can effect egg quality. I have to admit I am feeling a lot better too after taking the tablets. Jen x

Mine actually went from 20% down to 15% even though I was taking iron tablets. Yes that's what I thought! Given what iron does I would have thought it would have been important to have the right level especially when it comes to egg quality. Hope you notice a difference, good luck xx
