Just wondering how long after your operation you waited to have your IVF treatment? Xx

I’ve had 2 hysteroscopys, 1 awake and 1 under GA. The last one I had was under GA and was then allowed to start treatment from my next period, my clinic said they like to start treatment as close to it as possible as it acts like a scratch x

I’ve just had the one under GA at the beginning of October, turns out my uterus was in quite a mess! We were going to go back at the end of November for our treatment but financially we are thinking it’s going to have to wait until January but I didn’t want to lessen our chances of it succeeding. That’ll be 3 months after my operation?! X

I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference tbh as I don’t personally think the scratch makes much of a difference and that was the only reason she gave me for having it close X

They cut lots of dead tissue & scar tissue out of me & make like holes it looked like, hopefully she’ll say it’s ok x

Hi I had a hysterocopy on the 28th September as I had not had a period since the D&C that was 8 weeks earlier. Turns out the top of my cervix was blocked hence why I did not have my period.

I have since had a FET (20th October) and going in to have my blood test this Wednesday.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I had a hysteroscopy (just with local anaesthetic) Thursday week before last to remove polyps and the doctor said we could start fertility treatment straight away. I imagine it depends on what the hysteroscopy is for so I’d definitely check with the doctor who did the hysteroscopy. Good luck x

Thank you all, I can’t explain why but I got myself in such a state last night about waiting when we had it planned to go in November which would only be one month after my operation. It feels like another baby related thing has been taken away from me & I feel heartbroken - the rational part of me knows this hasn’t happened it’s only delayed by a couple of months (if our consultant says it’s ok to wait) but I’d got it in my head that all this pain & upset could be over before the end of the year & now it’s not. And if we do still go in November then my boyfriend will have to leave me there to come home & go back to work & i don’t want that either, I feel like this way of making our baby is unnatural enough without it happening without him even being in the same country as me when they implant the embryos. I don’t know I’ve just got myself in such a state over it all - super puffy eyes this morning xx

I don’t really have any helpful advice other than to say I’m sorry, it’s so hard to deal with all the knock backs. It’s normal to feel sad about this so do allow yourself to, but you will get there. I’m due to have a hysteroscopy soon as well and hope to start private IVF in the new year. If you do decide to wait till your boyfriend is around then at least you will have something to focus on to get through the difficult Xmas period. I’m seeing it as an opportunity to enjoy the last chance to eat and drink a bit of what I like, put this shitty year to bed and think of new year as a new start.

Whatever you decide, here’s hoping 2019 is our year! Sending luck xx

Thank you, that’s a good way of looking at it. I was thinking of it like have it done this year & if it doesn’t work then that a shitty end to a shitty year & we can start afresh next year or if it did then what a great end to a horrible year. But your way is good! I heard back from our consultant & she said it would be ok to wait until January but I would need to have an aquascan & a mild endometrial scratch to ensure my uterus is as good as it can be so now I think maybe I should just suck it up & deal with it that he won’t be there as what we save in not going in November we’ll have to pay out for extra treatment anyway by the sounds of it!!

Lots & lots of luck to you too xx

I had a hyfosy (similar to a hysteroscopy), and before I had it they advised that IVF wouldn't get going until 3 months after, as it can improve chances of conception. As it turns out, I have endometriosis and immobile ovaries, so need surgery anyway and this is also an explanation of why we are struggling to conceive, so I'm having the surgery in 3-4 months (a painfully long wait) and then we will continue to try and conceive naturally for a further 6 months before we look down the IVF route again. This was our choice, we were given the option of continuing the IVF journey without the surgery, but there was a chance they wouldn't be able to retrieve my eggs anyway, and where we live we only get 1 round on the NHS.

So I would expect you to have to wait about 3 months as long as everything is normal.
