Yes we did on our last cycle, we had to pay extra for it. Only one ended up fertilizing and we didnt get to transfer, I've still got lots of questions to ask them about it as I'm sure they did say you would get a video of them developing. They said they couldn't see what the issue was and to try again. We are having it again this cycle free of charge, and hoping it will prove successful 🤞

It is meant to be good as the embryos never leave it and is in a controlled environment. Where as normally they are brought out of the incubator for looking under microscopes etc and you dont know if that can have an affect x

We have Male factor. My husband has azoospermia caused by being a carrier of the cf gene. It did seem a lot of money to pay, but we thought would we always question ourselves if we didnt and it went wrong. Well it dog wrong unfortunately but I think it we had to pay again we would still use it. It's a tough decision x

Hi Eram. I feel that the concept is good, but a lot of money to pay. Nice to think that the little embryos are not disturbed though. One for individual thought I think. Hope all goes well next time round, and of course for success. Diane

Hi - I had two round of icsi . First round we didn’t use the embryoscope and it failed - we didn’t get any to freeze either . I had two embryos put back .

Second round I asked about having a scratch and my consultant said if we were wanting add ons go for the embryoscope- it was £700 extra . We decided to go for it as the embryos are not disturbed and are filmed as they develop - I thought if anything it may give us answers as to why it didn’t work . We got three embryos that got to blast . Better quality than first round . One being my little boy and we tried again in August - I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant . I can’t say if it made a difference but in my mind it was the only thing we did different on the second round . Good luck whatever you decide to do x x

We are in a study my clinic is doing on embryoscopes.

I can’t offer much advice as we don’t know until the end if we are in the control group or not, but my hospital (which is NHS) said they are hopeful they’ll prove beneficial enough to be brought into mainstream use there.

I had embryoscope (paid extra as add-on to nhs cycle). Our issues were largely male factor although I also had polycystic appearance on scans (not PCOS though).

We had 26 eggs collected which ultimately ended up in 9 embryos, one of which is now my little boy (nearly 18 months old).

I asked the embryologist afterwards whether it had been useful. They said in my case yes because we had so many eggs fertilised, it helped them decide on which were the best. Some looked ok but having the embryoscope showed that they’d divided abnormally which they wouldn’t have known otherwise.

Good luck with whatever you decide x

We wouldn't have chosen to pay for the embryoscope, however it was included as part of our Access fertility package for donor eggs. We found it was useful to get more detailed feedback on the day to day development, particularly as my husband was diagnosed with dna fragmentation and so were keen to know if this was the cause of previous failures and miscarriages. For our first round we were told that the fertilised eggs showed a lot of fragmentation at around Day 3, ended up with two making it to blast, both failing at transfer. Our second DE cycle was much better with no fragmentation.

Wow go’s to show that Embryoscope does work In finding out certain things about the embryo. We have an appointment with the Embryoscope consultant next week. X

Hi hunny we were offered it on our last NHS cycle as an add on, but we decided against it as we don’t normally produce many eggs so I’m glad we did as we only ended up with two embryos by transfer day and they both went back in! This is just my opinion, but if you know you generally produce a lot of eggs I would think it would be worth it, but if you only ever get a few then it’s a lot of money if it doesn’t actually give you any real options as to what to transfer 😘
