Ok, so today is otd I had a 3 day transfer last Saturday after our first round of ICSI.
I dropped the first test in the loo (top test) so we’ll call this the control (and call me an clumsy idiot)!
The second test was the one that I actually managed to use. It immediately showed a negative result and after 2 minites I put it away in disappointment. Come back to the bathroom 2 1/2 hours later to tidy up and it’s changed. Now reads positive. The leaflet says not to read after 10 mins. Is there any chance this is really a positive?
Advice/guidance/ support welcome.
Love to all x x

I’m not sure, how long were you supposed to wait? Most tests are about 3.
From my experience of many testing over the years I’ve never seen a test change after 10 mins.
I would re test tomorrow with first urine because at this early point you won’t be able to detect after first urine even if you are pregnant. I’d use a clearblue conception pregnancy test to spell it out in words & date it!
I really hope it is a genuine positive test & have everything crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻xoxo
Thank you for your response, it said to read between 2 and 10 mins but I certainly didn’t wait longer that 5 mins before I put it away, so no idea when the result changed I just assumed it would show straight away if it was positive?
Definitely not 🤣 you’re braver than me; I handed the test to my hubby to read 🤣 it was the longest 3 minutes ever 🤣
I do hope this is your time 🙂🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 xoxo
I would definitely do another test tomorrow just to be sure. The tests are designed to work in a 3-5 min window, so test results that come up hours later are likely to be questionable (as due to the way the tests work, the urine will have evaporated, so, the chemical that creates the line will appear darker).
My other half is a scientist who makes these kinds of test, so I got the science lesson too when a similar thing happened to us...
Thank you, will defo retest tomorrow morning! I’ve now read about 10 articles on evaporation lines but I’m not sure that’s what it is. Will find out one way or the other!
Looks promising but understand your pain. We ended up buying a digital pregnancy test that told you with words because it was so hard to second guess- the other tests got stronger after a few days but were ambiguous on test day. The tests can show a false positive after 10mins but it does not sound like you left it that long. If it is early days, it may take some time for the test to turn positive.
I would be tempted to buy two digital tests and test again later today but know that if it is negative, you will need to test again tomorrow.
Good luck! Xx
These tests have evaporation lines they're not reliable after a few mins- it's happened to me, go and buy a first response and check xx
I agree. Get yourself another test, perhaps a frer (first response) and test again. Good luck xx
Hey lovely what was the date of your transfer? 3dt takes a bit longer. I was told to test day 12 of 3dt and bloods 14days after. It looks positive. So fingers crossed xx
Hi transfer day was 13th so today is day 12 I think? This was the day they told me to test so I assumed that it would be obvious by now it if had worked? I don’t go back for bloods I just inform them by email the result of the pee test.
I still think that is pretty early for a 3dt, my clinic suggests day 12 and recheck on day 14 after a 5dt and my NHS clinic was 14 days after a 5dt too. Hopefully things will be a bit clearer tomorrow with a retest! Fingers crossed.xx
