Hi ladies,

I haven’t posted much since my chemical but I’m slowly driving myself insane here, just after people’s own stories/any idea on FET

I think my period is finally arriving 🙌🏻 Only time I think I’ll ever be happy about this lol!

Do you think there is any chance of fitting in an FET before Christmas? I presume I’ll be doing medicated.

I am due to see the consultant Monday for our follow up and I’ll find out for sure then but I’d like some idea of what to expect.

If it’s likely not to happen, I’d like to half prepare that it could possibly be the case if that makes sense?!

Plus, I’d like to hear others stories of FET as we’ve never had one before

Thanks all xx

Hi I can't help on afraid but I have my follow up with consultant on Tuesday and I too am hoping to do FET before Christmas after a failed fresh transfer last month. My period is due next weekend so hoping I can get started again soon as struggling with the feeling of being in limbo xx

100% with you there! I hate being in limbo and feel like I’m doing nothing!

FC we both can go ahead and that we get a Christmas miracle xx

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your chemical :(

I think it depends on your clinic.

I am doing IVF abroad and there are no waiting lists, so everything is super quick.

I had a failed cycle last month, my period came on the 4th if October and I am doing a FET on Monday.

If you are in a nhs very busy clinic you may need to wait longer.

On my nhs clinic (that I ended up not using) they said that if a fresh cycle fails the waiting time for the FET would be 6 months!

But I think some clinics do it quicker.

Wishing you very good luck

thanks for replying.

We would be self funding this round, I don’t think this would be the problem in our clinic but it’s whether there is physically enough days to complete a cycle x

CatDV profile image
CatDV in reply toJB1988

Oh, I see :)

My protocol is very simple and quick: estradiol from day 2 of period, crinone from day 14 and transfer on day 19. If yours is similar surely you will be able to transfer before Christmas. Again, it depends on the clinic and personal circumstances

I had an unmedicated FET last summer, which resulted in the birthof my baby earlier this year.

I would say it was so much less stressful than a fresh cycle. Especially of unmedicated. My lining naturally grew to a good thickness before transfer day and I didn't have to go to loads of appointments so it wasn't a major disruption to my work and schedule. Obviously the fact it worked and I now have a little one means I'll always be provided fet!

I reckon you could defo fit it in before Christmas - but will you want to be sober all Christmas ;)

Good luck!

I 100% don’t care about drinking I just want to hopefully finally have our baby haha!

Thanks for commenting xx

Good for you! My sober Christmas last year was my best one yet! Knowing I was carrying my baby was way more special than any drink :D

Good luck!

I think it depends on what protocol the clinic have you on and if you need to down regulate first. I've had two medicated fets with down regulation. The whole process was about 8 weeks from ringing the clinic on day 1 to embryo transfer. Hope that helps xx

JB1988 profile image
JB1988 in reply toPenders

Thanks hun.

I guessed it would depend and I would say I’d be medicated with probable down regging so will start prepping for the fact it may not be before Christmas xx

Hi after our chemical we had to wait two cycles before we could start our fet!! We had our fet in September which sadly didn’t work!! So now we’re starting our new fresh cycle and hopefully egg collection at the end of November xx

Wishing you good luck with everything xx

JB1988 profile image
JB1988 in reply toLisaworthy1981

Thanks for commenting. I don’t know whether that will be another thing that holds us back, if my clinic want to wait for another cycle or not. Most of the time they are happy for me to go after one but I’ve never had a chemical so could be different.

I’ll take that into consideration that maybe it will be in the new year then!

Thanks for the luck, same for you xx

Lisaworthy1981 profile image
Lisaworthy1981 in reply toJB1988

Yes that could be the case!! Our last was just a failed one, and they were happy for us to go straight into a new cycle!!

Our clinic also told us that they close for two weeks at Christmas, so we had prepared ourselves for the new year too but all is going good so far!! Xxx

JB1988 profile image
JB1988 in reply toLisaworthy1981

Yes, I guess this could be something they say. Thanks for a heads up that it could potentially be pushed back

I know we had the same issue last year for our fresh round, it was our first round and I didn’t have a clue and it was touch and go but it fitted in, so I’m hopeful unless they say 1 more cycle needed that we will be going ahead. I’ll find out Monday xx

Hi, I’ve just had consultation for FET last Monday and I think this was my last chance this year as my clinic are closed over the Christmas period. I’m doing medicated FET transfer and my period was just starting week before consultation. I’m scheduled to start medicine on 26oct which will be my cycle day 19. From my experiences before it’s roughly taking for me one month between day 1 when I start first injection and transfer day. I recon all being well my transfer day can be somewhere end of Nov.

I think if you are about to start your period now you are still have good chances to fit in yourself before Christmas but of course all depends on your clinic ways of preparing you for this, your cycle medicine etc-perhaps this can be different for each person. All the best to you xxx

Thanks hun, I’ll know more Monday but just wanted an idea.

FC for you xx

I think is possible to have an FET before Christmas depending on clinic waiting times, I'm with NHS so they have long waiting times (where I am).

I've had one FET and here's what happened on my medicated cycle -

Day 1 called clinic stared taking Estrodial 2mg 3 times a day

Day 12 lining scan (no bloods) all was ok so evening after

Day 13 started on pessaries (Cyclogest) 2 times a day and continued on Estrodial

Day 16 egg transfer

Otd was 13 days after transfer

I had 3 embryos frozen and 2 were put back in, unfortunately I had bfn.

Xxx

Thank you hun, I know I’ll have to wait until Monday until I know for sure but it’s good to get an idea of what might be in store.

So sorry for your BFN, it’s never easy xx

Hi, I started my second cycle the first week of August (injections) and had my transfer the 14th September. I had thin lining for weeks so that delayed the transfer. I will be 8 weeks this Sunday and have my second scan on Monday so hopefully they see baby this time. I had a first fresh cycle which failed and my clinic have higher success rates with frozen. Good luck with you cycle xx

I’m in the same position as you, had a chemical after my first fresh cycle in July and only have one frostie! I wanted my FET before Christmas but with other commitments & the clinic not taking any FET after 15/11 we are now waiting until the new year. I was also told to have at least 2 cycles in between failed ivf & fet - I have given it a lot more time as I didn’t feel emotionally ready until now. Good luck x

Sorry to hear about your last round. I think different clinics have different rules about how long they like you to wait before you try again. My clinic wants two natural periods before starting again (though I’ve done short protocol so essentially started meds on Day 1 of my second natural period) which averages out at a cycle every 3 months. I’m sure I’ve read about other clinics who say you can start on your first natural period. Good luck with your next round.

JB1988 profile image
JB1988 in reply toLynnr54

Thanks hun, I don’t know my clinics rule on how many after a chemical but usually they let me go ahead after one but this may be different. Will see what they say Monday, thank you xx

Hi I just had a back-to-back FET started again on ‘the’ bleed- so my meds started again on day 21. I was worried that my body needed time to recover but my clinic said I’d be fine. And I was...8 weeks tomorrow 🤞

It’s god cos you’re already eating well, not drinking, taking vitamins etc so it was easier to carry on with the way of life if you get what I mean.

Bestest of luck xx

Yes that’s how I view it, as long as there is time before Christmas I am ready for it so I’d like to carry on!

I had my FET on NHS last year. Started down reg in November after my follow up appointment in Oct. FET on 22nd Dec. Currently sat on the sofa with my miracle baby in my arms! Defo think you’ll be able to fit it in. I think my treatment was 6 weeks in the end, shorter and easier on the body than fresh cycle in my opinion. Wishing u the best of luck on your journey and hope that you’ll have your miracle babe soon xxxxx

Hi after I had my follow up ( I had a cp) I was allowed to start my fet after I also did medicated ☺️ so hopefully your be able to start I know every clinic is different. My fet worked and am currently 24 weeks pregnant. I found the fet so much better as didn’t have to have any injections and I just felt more at ease. Hope you get to start your fet before Christmas and wishing you lots of baby dust ☺️ xx

Thank you 😊 I hope they let you to 🤞🏻 xx

I did medicated but without down regulation. My clinic says they have similar results with and without down regulation. But without is a quicker process. I started progynova on day one of my cycle and had my embryo transferred on day 18. So it’s definitely possible you could get it done before Xmas. Good luck x
