Pre FET scans/ tests - advice

Hello ladies,

For those of you who have had an FET abroad, what scans / blood tests did you have before the actual transfer? My transfer is booked in for 19th dec and at the moment I have only been asked to goto have a lining scan on 11th dec- as this is my first FET I was wondering if this was the norm or have any of you had other scans nearer to transfer. I just want everything to be just right this first time if possible and would rather not say....if only I’d done this ...etc so your experiences are invaluable. Many thanks.

I am also doing a FET abroad (ET on Dec 17th) and they also told me that I would need only one lining scan (but haven't gotten the date yet). Which medication are you on?

Hi, oh wow yours will be 2 days before mine! I’m not sure of the exact medication I’ll check when I get home- just came off the pill at the weekend so waiting for my period. Will be nice to have a cycle buddy! ?

I’ll be in progynova and aspirin first starting this weekend, then progesterone and prednisolone from the 14th all going well. How long are you going for? Are you going on your own?

I will stay there 4 days, but the clinic said that arriving the day before ET and leaving the day after (so 3 days) would be ok. I am staying an extra day to save some money from the flight tickets. Yes, I am going by myself. Yourself?

I am hopefully starting my FET in December on nhs and will only be having 1 scan xo

Thanks Jm22- seems like one scan is the norm and I need to stop stressing! All the best for your transfer let us know when it is as a few of us might be around the same time!

I just started AF today so will be phoning clinic tomorrow, so all being well I think I'll be starting down regging on 16th, not sure I actually feel ready to use our last week embryo tho 🙁all the best for your FET, nor too long to go for your transfer xox

Oh I have definitely heard of success stories with not such high grade embryos - so stay positive and I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed for us all in dec! X

Of course I don’t- just jealous! It’s raining and very cold here in the U.K.!

I had a couple of lining scans and after my first scan, they told me to get some ovulation test sticks, so I would know exactly when I had ovulated then the FET was done exactly 7 days post ovulation. That is all you should need really. Good luck!! Xx

Hi Laceygirl, thanks for your reply. I have taken a prostap injection last week, I believe to stop ovulation so slightly different to your your protocol, just waiting for period now and then will start meds. X

Hey, thats right prostap is to put your body into the menopause so clinic have full control so you wont ovulate. I had to have a baseline scan then a lining check....I usually have more as my lining never seems to respond properly so usually need to up my dose and rescan but Im an odd case, what can I say! Well it was meant to be next week but Ive cocked up my meds and dates so cancelled for this month, Im such an idiot. Will get back on the case next month! Enjoy Athens...... should still be reasonable weather over there just now although getting a bit chilly especially in the evenings! Wishing you lots of luck.xx

Oh I’m sorry to hear that- but best to make sure everything is perfect for your next one! Don’t beat yourself up- I remember mixing up some meds 2 years ago- I need to do a spreadsheet for this one as the meds are so specific and you have to up doses on specific days- we all need PA’s to tell us what to do and when! I think I’m just going to enjoy the hotel- going on my own just for 2 night so will just relax and watch some movies! If I have to go back will do some sightseeing next time! Xx

I had a bit of a melt down at the weekend.....as you do! Ha ha ha Was a real drama queen but cant change it and its not long to try again and defo want everything to be right so no regrets! I went on my own the last time, it was nice to relax actually! Hopefully you dont need to go back!x

Hi. Yes it is normal to ask to scan once around day 11-14. Then they might ask for something else depending on the result. Normally you only need one scan. I have needed more because my lining takes some time to grow. I also needed a progesterone and LH test once as it looked like i had a cyst or ovulatory follicle.. but I was not downregulated, that should not be an issue for you. Anyway trust your clinic that they will guide you through the necessary steps, and good luck 🤞 xx

Hi I wish you well, I am having my first FET on Sunday , I am going abroad for treatment. I was put onto the pill and then on the 1st day I started bleeding after finishing it they put me on 2 patches of Estraderm patches which I had to change every 3 days. I had my lining scan last Friday which was ok ,From tomorrow I have to start taking Utrogestan every 8 hours and continue until transfer. They told me my test date will be the 12th Dec . The donor eggs are being collected today. This is a great forum . I am happy to share my journey if it helps others, good luck everybody

Oh very best of luck for your transfer on Sunday, which country are you going to? How many eggs did you get? I’m guessing you are going for a fresh transfer?

Thanks, I’m going to Barcelona . I was hoping to hear from clinic as I’m having donor eggs but haven’t heard yet, I suppose no news is good news, maybe they will contact me tomorrow once they know how many fertilise and look good quality, yes I’m having a fresh transfer
