FET timeline...

Good morning all. I am hopefully starting my fet next month. I was just wondering if anybody has an idea of what happens with an fet? We did a freeze all cycle and my follow up isn’t until next week...

They said I’ll be starting meds on day 21 of my next cycle but apart from that, I know nothing. I was so focussed on my fresh cycle and did so much research etc. that I hadn’t considered we may end up doing a frozen for my first transfer...

Hey I have just had a frozen transfer. I’m sure they are all very different depending on the clinic. Mine was a medicated cycle and I can share how mine worked.

My protocol was:

Day 1 first day of period - begin taking daily aspirin and carry on folic acid throughout

Day 3 start estrogen patches to build lining and continue trough it cycle

Day 12 ultra sound to check lining and bloods for progesterone and estrogen levels

Day 19 start progesterone 3 times daily

Day 24 embryo transfer and begin

2 weeks of daily progesterone injections and carry on with estrogen and progesterone

Then I had to do a blood test for pregnancy two weeks later.

Sounds like you may be on a long day 21 protocol if you are starting meds on day 21 but everyone is different. I did a long day 21 protocol. I started with injections to down regulate and then had a scan two weeks later to check suppression. I then was started on oestrogen patches- the dose changes after a week and then after two weeks they checked to see if my lining was ready for transfer. Then 5 days before transfer (because we had a 5day blastocyst) I started progesterone. Good luck! I had acupuncture during this cycle to help with my lining. X

Hi Zoe, I think it’ll be long protocol as they told me that once I get to cycle day 1 I am able to go in anytime between then and day 21 for my consents etc.

I do have acupuncture (well taking a break during the wait to start due to costs!), did you have it weekly?

Where about in the cycle are you now??

How did you find the fet? They’ve told me it’s much less appointments and much less intense...

I had acupuncture weekly before transfer (but only for about two weeks (had started oestrogen patches) just because I decided last minute to go for it). My acupuncturist advised I see her before and after the transfer although she said after was most important. She normally preferred on the same day but we couldn’t due to timing and so I had one session two days before and the other a couple of hours after. Then nothing until after test day. We’re now 5 weeks pregnant - just waiting for our scan.

The FET definitely has less appointments- only had two scans. One to check downregulation and then one to check my lining was ready which luckily it was. Wishing you lots of luck. Xx

Sounds like you’ll be down regulating again if you’re starting on day 21. Then you’ll probably start oestrogen tablets to build your lining and then progesterone pessaries five days before transfer (if your embies were frozen at five days)

Thanks Lizzie, I didn’t down reg last time as was on short protocol so feel like it’s totally new...

is it usually a week of down reg before you get your period?? Thanks x

Mine is usually a little late.
