Im currently waiting for IVF but regardless of its success, myself and my husband would also like to adopt?
We wont start this journey until after IVF but while im impatiently waiting on that to start Id like to hear some of your experiences of international adoption?
TIA

We were looking into adoption if our IVF never gave us a child.
We did a lot of research and it seems a lot more harder than home adoption, and if you plan to bring a child from another culture it can be very difficult for the child in later life, so you have adoption issues on top of cultural issues to work through.
We initially thought it would be easier to get a baby abroad, but in reality its very difficult (if you have no connection to the country) and getting a UK toddler who needed a home here in the UK, seemed like the best option for us.
In our research we found for example that the UK gov has banned adoptions from certain countries and you will need a very compelling case to get an exemption. Also many countries , not on that list, have banned adoptions to the UK or heavily restricted them, again you will need to have a compelling case to get an exemption (usually at least one parent having cultural or national links to the country).
Adopting a baby (here in London) isn't actually as difficult as the image that you have to be young and perfect and there's a massive waiting list, so a lot depends on your local area, it may surprise you if you go and speak to them, like we did.
If your prepared for the expense and knowing you have work with adjusting a child growing away from the country they have a connection to, then I imagine it must be a very rewarding experience.
Its a great thing your doing to adopt, my wife is currently due our baby in less than 3 weeks through IVF , but we will definitely adopt in the future to grow our family.
