embryo adoption

Has anyone done embryo adoption and don’t mind sharing their experience ? After three rounds of failed ivf with not even a single embryo formed we think embryo adoption may be the solution for us but it seems few people have done this in the Uk? Would be good to hear challenges and rewards to prepare ourselves .

I don't have any experience to share (hopefully someone will!) but I hope you find success via this route - you deserve it xx

hello. I think we were possibly embryo adoption. I’ve not heard it called this before but we went down the double donor route. When that didn’t work we decided to go for an embryo instead. If this is the same thing. It has been honestly so much simpler so much less hassle and really chilled. We did it in Spain. To avoid the costs and waiting times here and I’d do it again in a heart beat.

That's really interesting to hear. Thanks so much for sharing!! Was it much cheaper to do this in Spain?

absolutely, quite a bit to be honest and very little waiting time. They still did their best to match us and it’s been pretty smooth xxx

heya. I have not done this yet, but it’s something we’re looking into. So I can’t offer personal experience, but something I would say is consider the different legislation in UK vs. abroad - in the UK all donors are known, so the child can look up their genetic parents when 18 if they want. But I think there are longer waiting times. In some countries waiting times are much shorter, but all donors are anonymous by law, so you’d never know who they were even if you wanted to.

So if you do go down this route - which I think is an amazing option - think what’s right for you :)

And good luck! 💫🤞 x
