So, I have my eggs frozen since September and they are going to be thawed tomorrow and I am told the embyologist will call me to let me know when I should come in for the transfer.
My worry is, according to my calculations, my period comes this week and I have already started having the period signs. Is this the normal time for embryo transfer? What if my period comes just before I am called in for transfer? Does period hinder the whole process?
Or do I just allow my period come and go first before I go for the transfer?
Is there anyone who can relate? Is there Anyone who can share a similar experience with me and what happened eventually?
Your urgent replies will be appreciated.
Thanks

I assume you mean embryos rather than eggs frozen since September as the process would be different for eggs. From my experience, transfers are either timed with your cycle or you are on medication to stop the natural cycle and the embryos implanted on a day when the lining of the womb looks suitable.
There would be little point (but I am not a fertility doctor) in having a transfer just after your period has finished as the lining of the womb would be very thin so implantation less likely and if you had the transfer before a period was due and not on any medication to stop it, you would likely bleed.
Are you on medication or will you be starting medication after this period? Sounds like it may be a good idea to speak to your clinic to ask them to explain your timeline to you.
Thanks for your reply, eggs were collected and frozen in September, the eggs will be thawed today I am told as my partner has gone to give fresh sample this morning.
I was scanned last week and told the lining appears very good and ready, I am on progynova tabs and cyclogesst passages.
I am told that after the eggs are thawed, I will get a call to know when transfer will be.
My concern is that ordinarily my period is due is a day or 2 and I already feel the period signs.
Hi, my period was due two days after transfer but the medication stopped it. Are you taking Progesterone?
Im afraid I don't have any advice if they take the embryo out of the freezer and your period happens then but I assume that would be a cancelled cycle (I might be wrong but I personally can't see how they would do it either if you had your period)
Thanks for your reply, yes I am on Progynova 2mg 3 tabs daily and the pessaries I was asked to start today, let's hope that will stop the period from coming because it is ordinarrilly supposed to start in a day or 2 from my usual calculation.
I am taking the same so you should be ok my clinic said that would stop my period and it did. I also had period like symptoms from taking g the medication. Good luck for your transfer
Oh thank you so very much for your time, I rand them and they confirmed exactly to me that the medication will stop it and that I should prepare for the transfer this week.
I cannot be of much help here. I have no personal experience. I've been through donor egg cycles three times. And I do doubt they'll somehow want you to come for the ET when you're about to have your periods..It's better to call the clinic. Hope you'll get more answers from them. Stay well.
