A couple of years ago I had a cervical polyp removed. Then months ago I had an ultrasound done and just been sent a letter telling me I have a 2cm fibroid outside the womb. The letter says it’s small and given it’s position it shouldn’t be problematic in terms of fertility.
I am seeing the consultant in October so it’s a long wait to ask her more about this fibroid. My concern is the fact that these things keep appearing and growing near my womb (polyp plus fibroid). Is there any reason to be concerned? A 2cm size sounds pretty big to me but maybe it’s pretty standard?

Hi mpond, I had a polyp removed back in December and have now found out I have a fibroid. I think unfortunately it's just 1 of those things, my mum has had a few polyps removed so maybe it's genetic? I think my fibroid is 1cm,not sure, but the consultant said to me as long as it's not affecting the lining it's better to leave it and it shouldn't affect implantation. So try not to worry, I don't think it's anything to be concerned about xox
Hi mpond. Unfortunaely, some people are prone to these. However, you have had the cervical polyp removed, which might have been a bother, but the other one is on the outside of your womb, so should be a problem unless it should be pressing on one of your Fallopian tubes. It seems as if all should be OK to go ahead with IVF if that is what is needed. I could send you my list of questions in a confidential email if you want. There may be a few questions you could ask in October. Contact me at support@fertilitynetworkuk.org if you want them, and I will email them on. Diane
I had polyps removed about 5 years before I started fertility. It wasn’t the reason of my infertility at all, it ended up hey endo. I hope that helps good luck xx
