Well ladies, I apologise for my absence but life has just been so hectic at present and inbetween that I’ve just tried to forget about all fertility issues really which has been a blessing in so many ways!
Looks like I’ve missed so many updates, so congrats to all ladies I know who have had BFP and good luck to all those in the 2ww.
Well after quite a bit of research I decided to do that hidden C test at a clinic in Greece, where you send a sample of your period blood too 🤢 I paid for the full 11 tests and got my results yesterday. I have come back positive for one of the tests which is linked to unknown vaginal infection, possibly ecoli!! What is really wierd is that for people that question the validity in these tests I really think they are genuine, as when my hubby was having his bowel removed almost 2 yrs ago he was very unwell, and on further tests they found he had an ecoli infection!!! Coincidence maybe, but for me to only come back positive on this 1 test I find a bit spooky!
I have now got to take a course of antibiotics, and so does my hubby, although waiting to hear from his liver specialist if he can actually have them! Which may throw up some issues but fingers crossed.
The clinic also asked for me to complete a questionnaire and I have been blown away by the personal contact I have received, far better than my current clinic, and pretty much the only clinic so far that has wanted to know extensively about all my hubbys history and sperm results etc.
Due to my history they have advised I attend in Greece for a hysto and implantation cuts. Yes it’s more money just being spent but I just can’t help thinking that maybe these results, the antibiotics and the hysto May be the missing link. Only time will tell. They also want all my hubbys results to advise if we should think of donor sperm as well as using donor eggs, and I’ve not even paid a consultation fee for all this info!
If my hubby could leave the country we’d be there in a shot! But will have to keep my fingers crossed that when I go for the couple of days he does not get the call for his liver transplant whilst I’m there 😬
Could all this be the missing piece to the jigsaw for my recurrent miscarriages??
Filling out the questionnaire form last night hit me hard, as writing your whole history over 4yrs with all the loses makes you realise the hell of this journey!
I will keep you updated on progress. Currently awaiting a donor match for my clinic here for round 2! Will be a freeze all so I can time everything else around it.

Wow that all sounds incredible! I really hope this is it for you guys, keep us updated on your treatment it sounds like you’ve picked a great clinic xxxx
Hi Sprinkles! We’re using a clinic in the U.K. but decided to have the hidden C test in Greece as it’s a test they don’t do here 🙄 hope all is going well with you? Xx
Ah ok! Hopefully you’ll get your match pretty quickly then so you can get started. I’m doing great I had my beautiful boy on 3rd July after five long years of trying 💙💙💙
This sounds just like my journey ! Well done for going for the tests I took antibiotics as well also flew there actually a year ago tomorrow for the hysteroscopy and cuts and truly believe that’s what helped me have my son that’s currently on my lap right now! I so hope your next IVF round is the one! this clinic in Greece is fab we liked them but had relationship with Cyprus so actually had the IVF cycle there. X
Love this reply Blondyboo!! 😊I’ve exhausted all other options. It’s just a shame we all have to do our own research to find these tests. I’ve read so many positive stories after the antibiotics and hystosocopies etc. I really hope I get the same outcome as you! Thanks for sharing xx
Wow- good luck- really hope this is the solution for you! Do you mind me asking how much the c test cost? - I am seriously thinking of having it done as have come to dead ends with everything else! Sounds like fantastic customer service from them! I had a follow up with my clinic yesterday and was asking about it and nk cells test, and typically they were very dismissive and said they cd do it at £3000!! So I immediately thought of Greece! Sounds very positive experience fir you! Good luck xx
Hun you can get NK cells tested elsewhere at a fraction of that cost!
Not sure if your location but google professor Quenby & I think the biopsy is around £500 mark?
I had my nk cells tested via blood test & it cost £400 ( included the admin fees etc as I wasn’t a patient there) My fertility doctor indicated he preferred the biopsy as opposed to the blood test but has agreed I can take prednisone 5mg twice daily from a positive pregnancy test till 12 weeks xoxo
Omg- Jess- once again you come to my rescue 💕 thank you! Wow I need you on speed dial Lol! So annoying they don’t do it on nhs as they just took a biopsy of womb from my hysteroscopy a month ago! Why wouldn’t they just test for nk Cells in that! Seems so silly that they don’t screen for everything while they are at it and knowing the history! Oh well.. good to know about the blood tests tho- I’m going to look up that professor!
Hi Lu1u, it cost about £270 for the full 11 tests, there are other tests that aren’t the full 11, but thought it’s not a huge amount of money so may as well have them all! Glad I did now.
Re NK tests, as the others have said you can get it far cheaper. I had mine at Coventry, part of the Tommy’s recurrent Miscarriage research, however the treatment is only steriods, of which have yet to work for me as mine came back high. It maybe worth asking your clinic if they would just prescribe the steriods anyway, as that’s what my mate did. She didn’t pay for the NK test, but they gave her the steriods along with clexane (blood thinner) which I also have for sticky blood syndrome, and that cycle worked for her. Some clinic may want you to do the test though. Let us know you get on xx
Thank you baby2016.. that’s really helpful! And good idea about the steroids regardless of nk test! Worth a go! I’m going to defo try do that hidden c test- really hope it makes the difference for you this time! Thanks again and good luck with everything! Xxx
Great news Baby2016! I know it's annoying to think there is something else to consider but I think its very reassuring to think that they have found something....better to have something to work with than nothing and those antibiotics might just be what makes the difference! If you decide to go for the hystero, could you have one of your friends go with you if its diffcult to leave the country for health reasons? The procedure is not that bad and think you would manage without hubby, Ive always felt Athens to be pretty safe and friendly!
You're right you have been on one hell of a journey that is for sure!xx
Aw thanks Cinders. And just seen your recent posts. So sorry 😢 you always sound so positive as well. Keep that way if you can 👍🏻
My mum said she’d come with me if I need to go. But I don’t know if that will be more stressful! She’s recently been diagnosed with dementia and I know she really cares and wants to pay and interest in what’s going on, but it’s really hard to stay calm when I’m repeating the same thing over and over! See how things go xx
Oh christ i dont feel very positive these days....glad that I sound it though!!😂
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. I can't imagine how hard it is repeating yourself all the time! We should coordinate dates & go to Greece together! Ha ha ha Just kidding! I went myself last time and felt safe enough but I think having someone with you would be good for support being in a strange place if you haven't been before!xx
I’m glad they found something they can fix & hope by doing so you get your little miracle baby. You’ve been on a tough journey & are definitely due some good news soon! Keep us updated. xoxo
It sounds like you’ve found a good and thorough clinic there. And having found something is probably better than having found nothing, at least something can be done now. Good luck for everything xx
So glad that you finally seem to have some real answers and that this clinic is taking care of you, making it personal rather than just a number. I think that helps your confidence in them too I really hope this is the missing link as you say and that this time will be it for you and your hubby. Best wishes to hubby too and hope he feels better xx
Hi baby2016, sorry to hear that you’ve been through so much! The clinic you’re working with seems very positive and it’s great that they’ve been able to pinpoint something. Would you mind if I asked what clinic you’re using? I’ve had 4 miscarriages and seem to have hit a brick wall with testing, so this clinic could be a huge help. Good luck with it all! X
This, is great news. We really have to be our own advocates I think, it really does pay off. I hope this is what it takes for your journey to come to a happy end. You really deserve it lovely. Please keep us updated, thinking of you and hope your hubbys transplant goes well.
