Pain following egg collection and transfer

I had my collection last Weds (8 eggs) and transfer on Saturday but I’m still really tender. I’m a teacher and I’ve gone back to work today. I find that I can only walk at a slow pace is that common at this stage? I just have this permanent dull ache around my ovaries and I just want to hold or rub my stomach which is a bit of a give away!

I’m guessing it’s still my ovaries recovering but just wanted some reassurance.

My last transfer I was in a bit of pain for around the first week. Any sudden movements I would get a sharp pain so like you I was walking at a slow pace being careful not move too quickly. I think it’s just your ovaries recovering, hopefully it doesn’t last too long. Good luck x

I was rather sore too. It probably took me a week to be back to normal.

I had EC last Monday (19 eggs) and my transfer was on Saturday too. While I don’t have a constant ache I do still feel a bit tender in general and occasionally I get really sharp pains in my ovaries. I think it’s just the residual effects of EC and due to the ovaries still being a bit active. Keep drinking plenty of fluids and take paracetamol xx

Yes very normal. I was soooo uncomfortable and bloated like a massive balloon for about a week. I honestly did not think it would ever go but it did. You will be fine. Take it easy. Wishing you lots of luck xx

Hey i was sore and tender for about 5 days but seemed to get alot better, how do you feel after pain killers? Have you taken anything? If your still having trouble walking maybe you have gone back to work a little too soon? Try and rest i hope you feel better soon xx

It’s not pain that I feel warrants a pain killer it’s more that I’m very aware of the discomfort all the time and I’m much slower than usual. I hope I haven’t gone back to work too early. I’ve just had 6 weeks off - bad timing!

But I do need to slow down a bit

I went back to work 2 days later and i had to take the following week off because it was too much for me, sometimes your body just needs it. Drink plenty of fluids and i hope you feel better xx

As th other ladies have said it will take time for your ovaries to recover and get back to normal. I felt sharp pains whenever I sneezed, coughed, moved too quickly, turned over in bed etc etc etc for about 3-4 weeks after EC. I was lucky that my fresh round was successful and when I went for my viability scan at 7 weeks I was told that my ovaries were still huge. So I think it’s just a time game. If it doesn’t start to improve a little over the next few days then might be worth getting yourself checked out just to rule out OHSS. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Hi lovely, I was sore for about a week too after EC. I’m a teacher too, and I understand that getting back for start of term is essential but you really really need to take it easy... look after yourself xx
