Three days past egg collection and my belly is still quite swollen looking. I’m only uncomfortable if I accidentally catch my belly but I haven’t needed to take pain relief. Is it still normal to be a bit swollen? I’m hoping transfer won’t be ruined x

Pretty normal to be swollen so don’t worry too much but I assume they have spoken to you about OHSS so just monitor your symptoms.
I am on day 5 and unfortunately not well enough for my transfer so my embryos have been frozen until I’m well enough. Doesn’t mean it’l be the same for you so don’t let that worry you. Definitely normal to be swollen and uncomfortable.
Thanks for your reply and sorry to hear that you aren’t well enough! I hope you’re ok! It’s such a hard journey isn’t it! I’m drinking green tea and going up for a bath to try to help it! Hopefully I’ll still be able to have transfer. Do you have to be in loads of pain to have OHSS? Xx
I’m getting there, thanks. Green tea is meant to be really good so hope it helps! I think to be tender and crampy is normal. OHSS has other symptoms such as vomiting, shortness of breath, fever. I haven’t had any of them luckily but a massive stomach like a balloon that caused me so much agony I went to the hospital to get checked over and they confirmed I have lots and lots of fluid on my ovaries.
If your too concerned id speak to your nurse. It is normal to be bloated and tender though so please don’t let me panic you. X
I’m so sorry to hear you were in agony with the swelling that’s awful! I’m wondering if some of my swelling is down to having general anaesthetic for my collection but I don’t know. I suppose the best I can do is rest tomorrow then see what they say on Monday. This is the hardest bit yet! How long do you have to wait to do the next transfer? Xx
It definitely is the hardest bit I think too. I’m not sure, maybe a month. I was gutted at first of course but now I know it was for the best. No way could I bare anymore pain and discomfort.
Yeah I bet it was hard but like you said it was for the best you’d have been in loads of pain if not. I just need to stop obsessing now and see what happens! I will keep you posted, thanks for messaging me back xxx
Yeah try not to obsess but I’d speak to your nurse anyway just to be on the safe side. No problem, this forum is so great when there’s so many of us going through the same.
Keep the water coming in by the pint load - I was told at least 2L per day, even if I was peeing for England/didn’t feel thirsty - it helps your body fight it. It is normal to be somewhat uncomfortable afterwards tho. Good luck! Xxx
