Swelling & hard belly?!

Yesterday was 5 days after EC and the first i had started to feel less tender. Today (6 days after EC) i still feel ok. I am still sticking to light duties only, no hoovering etc but... I noticed that i am very swollen and quite hard round the belly. It looks like a 6 month baby bump 🙈

But plus note: my breathing is fine, i dont have pain, i am eating/ drinking fine and urinating frequently and urine is clear as drinking lots water.

However, i rang the clinic just to be sure (as I had been swollen before and had cramps so wanted to keep them informed) and talked through above. I have put on approx 4 lbs since this morning but i told the nurse that id had breakfast and lunch so this could be the difference but she felt 4lbs was alot but i think there is sometimes quite a difference from early morning and late afternoon weights in my experience.

I have to go in tomorrow now for scan and bloods. I feel like i am making a mountain out of a molehill and don't want to waste their time if its nothing to worry about or go through a scan unnecessarily.

In your experience is swelling/ hard belly normal? I had EC 6 days ago and am 3dp3dt.

Thanks xx

I think it is better to be safe than sorry. If you had lots of follicles or lots of eggs collected then hyperstimulation could be a possibility. The clinic would rather see you and it be nothing than miss something- they won’t mind!

I was really bloated at one point but it had settled before transfer on day 5. It’s reassuring that you don’t have pain. My weight fluctuated so much in this time.

Try not to worry too much- you’ve got a good plan and you sound like you know what to look out for. good luck tomorrow.

Thanks lovely! Ive been drinking tons of water and swelling had gone down but its back with vengeance. I only got 2 eggs :/ however i did have a decent amount of follicles but they only had fluid - no eggs. However i think there were only 12 so not really alot. Im sure its nothing just dont want them to think im overreacting. My mum called earlier and said i looked pregnant so i know its not just me xx

Hope it’s nothing too serious. I looked about 5 months pregnant on my 2nd cycle but I wasn’t. The bloating was from the medication. Gosh. How did you feel when your Mum said you looked pregnant? Does she know about the treatment? xxx

I don't have any experience of this but I was advised to drink loads of coconut water after the egg collection. I don't really know why but that stuff is delicious so I didn't mind!

Hope you are OK and don't worry about 'making a mountain out of a molehill'. You're not. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

Hey there I hope you're doing good. Firstly congratulations on the EC. Secondly, it's hard to define "normal". Every person's procedure is different. My sister also had 12. Wasn't thought to be at the risk of OHSS and haven't had any other signs. She had quite a lot of pain for several days. I think it can be normal to be in pain. And normal too, to be in none. You should take panadeine for making it right. It's usual to have a hard belly in this case. So don't worry. Relax. Don't stress over this. It's totally normal. I hope that everything goes right. Best of luck for your IVF. I hope that it becomes successful. Take care of yourself. Much love.

No experience of this but hope you're ok x
