Hi, I've recently had an Mri scan done and I'm slightly worried about the results. I'm 36 and hoping to have children, although my recent issues might make this a bit harder than I had hoped. I will be seeing my consultant next month to discuss my results, however I wondered if anyone on here had experience of any of this.
The results show that I have a number of endometriomas, along with an area of adenomyosis, I also have a 4cm dermiod cyst. My uterus is acutely retroflexed too. I've googled much of this, which I know is not always the best thing to do. I'm just wondering how all this may effect my fertility and treatment options.
Thanks all,
Clare

Hi Clareshitley36. Goodness me, you certainly have got a lot going on here. The retroversed uterus, is when it tilts back and presses on the bowel. The dermoid cyst, is a weird little thing that will be removed as it will contain bits and pieces of human bits like hair and teeth. Bit of a hormonal mixup. The endometriomas too will be removed as these are when endometriosis bleeds into cysts on the ovary. The lining of your womb may need a “tidy up” too. Lots to be done, and then I feel you may need IVF but your specialist will advise you on that. Hope you can soon get sorted. Thinking of you. Diane
I know, there certainly is a lot going on. I had a dermiod cyst on my left ovary about 10 years ago, had my ovary removed due to torsion. Bad luck to have a dermoid on both ovaries. Anyhow, many thanks for your response and we'll wishes.
Retroflexed/retroverted uterus shouldn’t make any problems- I was told it’s a similar proportion of women as are left/right handed. Only thing is that it can make procedures such as smear tests or elements of ivf more tricky or uncomfortable x
Thanks for your message, I have an appointment with the consultant in October to discuss my options. Im sorry to hear about your loss and hope the surrogacy goes well. It's not something I had considered. My partner has fertility issues so we would need icsi anyhow. Not sure how it's going yo pan out and lots to think about. Thanks again and best of luck to you.
Just to reconfirm my post, a tilt really shouldn’t cause any problems, I’m not sure where the poster above gets her info from but I am completely retroflexed and now pregnant, the midwife told me your uterus moves itself into the correct position as it grows in pregnancy and therefore your cervix ends up in the right place.
