Second fresh ICSI cycle...any tips?

Hi all!

So...we’re about to start our 2nd fresh ICSI cycle and was wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom?

Our first one we only got one embryo but the dr said it was excellent so we were just unfortunate that it didn’t stick (we had embryo glue too 😖)

We didn’t get any to freeze so using access fertility programme for the next 3.

I’m taking folic acid and multivitamins but wondering if anyone knows of anything else to increase our chances?

On the way for nurse consultation now and due on my period on Saturday so quick turn around!

Hey, sorry to hear your first round was unsuccessful. Its heartbreaking isn’t it and just leaves an empty feeling inside. I remember you saying before that it’s a male factor issue for you. It is for us too! Male pride takes the biggest beating. Our 2nd fresh ICSI cycle was at the same time as yours in June. I remember being in the 2ww and commenting on your post. We only got one embryo in the first cycle, hence the second fresh cycle. Luckily we have frozen ones now. I couldn’t do a third fresh. It takes it toll physically and mentally.

I think you’re doing all you can. Mentally just try and relax, eat healthy where you can and support each other. I’m taking the folic acid too and multi vitamin. No cycle is the same but I felt better having a rough idea of what was to come, so hopefully you will too. I’m going for a saline scan on Friday. The consultant suggested it now that we’ve had two failed transfers. Last time I overstimulated which is why they think it didn’t work. We had a 5AA embryo. Hoping to start FET on day 21 of this cycle. I had a 38 day cycle this month and I was so worried it had messed everything up but it can just take a bit longer after a failed one. Just try not to panic if it’s slightly late. If that happens to you, try and see it that it’s your body’s way of recovery and it will give you the best chance next time.

I hope your appt goes well and you can start on time. Looks like we’ll be in the dreaded 2ww around the same time again. They are letting us put two embryos back this time so fingers crossed!!

Thanks 😊 Yeah it’s mentally and emotionally draining isn’t it. Sounds like we’re in the same boat! So glad you have some frozen ones, got my fingers crossed for you! I’m a tad disheartened as the nurse won’t let us start on this period, she wants me to have another scan so we need to wait another month. Upsetting as I’m just keen to get started again but I guess it is what it is.

Despite is being male factor, he’s actually more relaxed than me! I’m just so anxious about everything and starting to think ‘what if it never happens, what then?’ It’s enough to make you mad!!

I really want to put 2 embryos back if we get 2 but I don’t think they will, they only really want to put them one back.

Good luck with your next cycle! Really hard, but try to relax and take some time out for yourselves. I had 4 fresh ICSI cycles, was definitely most relaxed for the 4th cycle and that was the best and got my BFP. Drink plenty of water to keep everything plump and hydrated, and keep exercising for good blood flow and oxygen round your body. I was also taking DHEA to improve egg quality, but sound like you don't have an issue with quality xx

Thank you! Congrats on yours BFP!!! That’s exciting! We start next round end of August so just going to focus on being relaxed and looking after myself! Xx
