Hi All, hope you're well and enjoying this sunshine!!
Just a quick question I have a box of menpour and a box of used injections that I need to dispose of. I went to my gp this morning and they wouldn't take them. It seems too much of an effort to go back to my clinic with work etc. Does anyone know another place that will take them? Do hospitals take them? I have an appointment on Monday so would be good to know before then!
Thanks xx

Thanks for your reply. My gp refused to take them! My clinic is about an hour away from us so it's just a hassle of going there. I will ring out local pharmacy and see if I can drop them x
My pharmacy took my left over medication, and my gp surgery took the needles etc but would only take them in a sealed sharps box. I would say your hospital will accept but if all else fails the council will take needles etc. but they will definitely need to be in a sharps box (I'm assuming you're in the UK?). You need to book a collection either online or by phone
Thanks Hun, the injections were in as closed sharps bin but they still refused to take them!! I think they are just being long. They said to call a clinical desposal place to ask them to collect them but you have to fill out a form and get it signed off by your gp! I may have to just go back to my clinic if the pharmacy says no
They couldn't make it any more difficult could they? Your gp sounds like a right arse!! Try the hospital first but if not the council should take it away for free for you, worth contacting them - they usually have to provide the service because of elderly people on medication who can't leave the house. We used to offer clinical waste service collections in my old job and we wouldn't have done domestic waste collections because of the small volume, and also it would cost you a small fortune. You can probably put all your medication in the sharps box too, they won't check if it's sealed and it all just gets burned anyway. Hope you find an answer. Mine were sitting in my car for 4 months before I got rid of them, lol!! 😁
I know!! I thought the doctors would have taken them 😑😑 there just being a jobs worth lol. I think the local council want a paper signed by the doctors. If it's a hassle I will just have to make the trip to my clinic! Its just a pain to go to after work! X
