I’m slowly getting closer to really starting this process. I start my injections a week today and I was just wondering if there is anything I could be doing now to help things along.
Also any tips for once I start. I’m quite nervous but I know it has to be done.
Thank you In advance.

I was so nervous about the injections and I really didn’t think I could do it myself!!! I was going to get my partner to do it but when it came too it I had to do it myself!! Once the first one was done it became a normal part of everyday life!! Two injections in the morning and all was good!
Sending you lots of luck once you start next week xxx
Thank you. I think your right, once the first day is over and done with then the rest will be ok.
Did you follow any of the other, none medically proven advice? Like a hot water bottle and oranges etc? I don’t know what would be best. I don’t want to get drawn in to over thinking it all by following food plans etc but I don’t want to miss doing something that will help our chances.
No not really, I follow SlimmingWorld for my diet so I just stuck with that!
When I went for my scan I had 12 follicles on one side and 5 on the other....but come ec day they only got 4 eggs! 3 fertilised, 2 made it to day 5! One transferred last month but sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy, and one went to freeze....so we’re just wanting now till we can have the frozen one transferred xxx
When I had my first scan my right only had 5 follicles and my left was not coming out to play so no count there. I just scrapped through with 5 so I’m not hopeful for a big egg collection. I guess that’s why I’m worried about all of the extra things I can be doing to help.
Hi I was terrified of starting the whole process but once you get going it's not so bad. Take each day at a time and try not to think too far ahead just complete one stage at a time. Take your time with the injections and once you've done the first few you will be a pro at it. Don't be disheartened if you have to stay on medication for longer or if your doses increase just try and trust your clinic and you will get there. Make sure you try and drink lots of water as it does help, I havnt changed my diet at all, just tried to cut the amount of tea I drink down to just 2 a day. Wishing you lots of luck xx
I really need to be on the water thing as I really don’t drink enough anyway. I’m going to be on the loo so much as my bladder won’t be used to it 😂. My intake of tea is way too high so that is something I am cutting down.
I found the water did help with the side effects, I was lucky and had hardly any but if I did get a headache I upd the water and it definitely helped. I also just tried to keep my every day life the same, still walked the dog, went to work etc and did bits around the house to keep my mind occupied otherwise I found myself sitting thinking. You'll be fine and surprisingly once you start injecting the weeks do go by quite quickly xx
Hi lovely, 12 days into down regging now and was terrified about injecting but I got used to them after about day 3, and I promise you, they seem so much worse in your head! Once you get your head round it, the actual injection is fine good luck with it all! Xx
Buy some sweets- for my first two rounds I sucked a sherbet lemon whilst injecting each time and it really helped! By the third round it was all routine and I didn’t need it any more.
Download the Mindful IVF app to help you stay calm. I found it helpful. And the injections will be ok - the first one I was shaking but I got used to them very quickly. If I can do it you can do it, I promise. Good luck!
I pop an ice cube on my skin before I inject. It makes it so much more comfortable. However, I am a wimp and I imagine most manage them without a flinch. Check it’s ok to use ice with your clinic as it may be different advice. Good luck x
