So today I have had the day off to accept delivery of my medication for IVF starting Friday.
I opened the huuuge box that was delivered and there is so many boxes and needles it has scared me a little. I have to take 4 x injections a day which I feel massively overwhelmed by.
Do I have take them all at the same time or spread them out throughout the day?
I have an appointment Friday with the nurse to explain all and to help with my first lot so will get more answers then.
I keep looking at the box and thinking how intense this is gonna be. This is our first try at IVF and I suppose I just didn’t know what to expect.
Thank you for your help and support

Hi Babyblues, just replying to show support, as I’m not at that stage yet so can’t give advice. It must be very overwhelming but I’m sure once it’s all explained and you get into the swing of things you’ll soon be a pro at it all.
Following with interest as this may be me soon! Good luck with it all and hope you get your BFP! xx
Cant really give advice as Im unsure as to what protocol you're doing and what meds you have been given. It may seem quite daunting to begin with but you will get used to it, I promise, and the nurses will make sure that you understand everything at your appt on Friday! Good luck!xx
I did long protocol too but only had to inject twice a day, there is such a variation with meds etc. It can be tricky at first but you get better at it or get your other half involved if that seems like a better idea!xx
Mine were split up so 7am and 7pm, I had to do buserelin in the mornings and wait for a bleed then baseline scan and then add the menopur (stims) in the evening.xx
I felt exactly the same so honestly don’t worry. The medication is spread out throughout different stages of your treatment and you’ve probably got some medication that you might not even end up using and they always over order.
The nurse will explain it all to you. Just take it all one step at a time. As I said you won’t be taking it all at once so it’s all explained in stages.
I remember that feeling when I picked up my first prescription for our first IVF. It is really daunting but your nurse will explain everything to you on Friday really clearly. She’ll more than likely give you a printed schedule for your medication which you’ll be able to follow daily to keep you right!
Good luck for Friday and keep us all posted with how things are going for you xx
I know what you mean - when the delivery came I couldn't believe how much there was - it was like they'd sent a whole pharmacy! Once you get started it doesn't feel too bad at all. I almost came to look forward to my injections which I know is a bit weird but I think I liked to feel like I was doing something proactive after so long of it not working naturally. The nurses will explain everything and give you checklists to tick off so don't worry. And there's always youtube videos for backup if needed! xx
I completely understand the feeling. I had a major wobble right before we started. I think it was more to do with the emotional aspect of the uncertainty of it all.
I expected the injections to be painful and to feel really awful. I’m on day day 8 of stims under the short protocol and it has all been much better than I thought. It’s going to be scary at first, but it’ll get easier.
I do the injections myself, but my husband is always right there with me helping me through the instructions and providing moral support. You’ll get through it. You’ve got this! 💪 xx
Aww, it is overwhelming at the start of it all but I promise you’ll get used to it 😊 The injections just become part of your routine and it all starts to feel so normal that once you stop injecting it feels a bit weird!
The best advice I can give you is if you’ve got any doubts about anything just ask, whether it be on here or at your clinic someone will be there to help 😊
Your nurse will go through everything with you, including what to take when and how. They will show you how to inject etc so please don't worry. Go armed to the nurse's appointment with all your questions and I'm sure they will be happy to help.
I remember feeling this way too, how will I ever inject myself (I have a fear of needles), how will I get through this from start to finish, but after a few days it becomes second nature, side effects weren’t too severe either, headaches to start then just bloated ness towards the end. Wishing you lots of luck & baby dust ✨ you can do this 💪🏼💖xxx
