Hi everyone. Just wanted to share with you all that we had our initial visit from the adoption agency yesterday. It was so intense! Tonnes of questions asked of us and they were at our house for 2 1/2 hours. They wanted paperwork such as passports and checked the garden for safety etc. Looked in every room (it’s a good job I spent the whole previous day cleaning!) Even looked in our bedroom and admired the view out the window, which I thought was a bit odd. The woman even asked me why there was loads of bedding and clothes on my bed! “Have you done loads of washing?” (Well yes, just come back from holiday....).
Sitting on the sofa real close to each other we were asked loads of personal questions about previous relationships etc. I felt a bit like I was sitting on a chair in the headmistress’s office TBH. BUT know and understand why that would be necessary, totally! Phew, glad that’s over and breathe......they will be in touch in 2 weeks after writing a report....so fingers crossed that everything’s ok to go ahead 😊😊😊

Sounds like a bit of an ordeal but all sounds normal for adoption. Our friends has fostered twins from days old and still had to jump through hoops to adopt them 2 years later! Will all be worth it!xx
Oh my goodness sounds so intense but understand why. How exciting for you. Please keep us posted. It’s lovely to hear your other journey. Any indication to how long it may take for you to have your child?? x
This is interesting to hear, as I am looking into adoption due to being told I only have 10% chance through IVF. I dont feel strong enough to go through the process knowing this and would be heart broken if it were to fail.
Yes when we had our initial visit it was very intense also lasted 2 hours. Think they are just sussing you out!! Have to say rest of process has been absolutely fine only other time its been so intense was at our approval panel. All the best xx
We re Scotland so our process is much longer. Its taken us 17 months from initial visit to match ing panel next week. She should be home by mid sept hopefully. That was with us getting through process quite fast. We only had to wait 3 months for a match. Good luck! England can be much quicker! X
Thanks for letting me know. Yes it seems much quicker, six months from initial visit if everything runs smoothly they said. Congratulations for getting your daughter very soon! Bet you are so excited!!! Having had two children naturally, in a sense I think I will be more protective of my adopted child. Also, not love them more of course, but love them because we have both found each other 💕
Thanks you we are really excited just wish it wasnt so long after matching panel to getting her. Goodluck with it all hope it all goes smoothly the worst part is the waiting. Theres a really good fb group prospective adopters uk dont know if uv heard of it but its great ! X
