How long before next transfer on NHs

Hi all, I hope you are all okay and being positive wherever you are on this journey ! ❤️

I’ve got my first egg collection for my first ever cycle on IVF on Wednesday and I’m just wondering, ( not to preempt anything negative) but if the first transfer doesn’t work and hopefully we have some frozen, can I be able to wait for say a year before I use them still under the NHS? I believe we get two transfers for free or so?

Not sure if it varies clinic to clinic but we were told we could freeze sperm for up to 10 years and each year it would cost around £275 although we could opt out of freezing them each year. This conversation was regarding a possible sibling so not sure if the same would apply for a FET. Good luck with your egg collection, hoping mine will be in a few weeks xx

I had my IVF cycle and it didnt work i then got caught naturally but unfortunately we lost twins at 11weeks. I then had a 6 months wait until we can try another frozen due to the wait at our hospital.. but on my wait ive taken letrozole

Yes, we were told the same. I think after this round I will be happy to wait a year , whatever the outcome ..

In our clinic it was 2 months wait - super quick.

This kept me sane during our first transfer to know we could try again with a frozen so soon.

I am sure your clinic will tell you. Hopefully it is short :)

Xxx

Yes I believe you would be able to wait for longer if you wanted to - the clinic plans the cycle with you and claims the costs from the NHS, but you would have to pay for the embryo storage. You might risk them changing the rules though, if the NHS in your area decide to go down to one cycle only within that year? Really hope you don't need another cycle though - best of luck xx

Thanks Sarah! That was my concern as well in regards to them changing the rules but I wouldn’t mind paying for the storage and wait a year if it comes to that. Thanks for your good wishes and all the best in your journey 😊❤️

I had one stim cycle and three transfers from my local NHS trust. I did not have to pay for storage and I did not have to wait in between transfers. I think it depends on your local NHS rules, though.

Hi,

I don’t know the answers to your questions but wanted to comment as I too have my egg collection tomorrow morning! I’m feeling a bit nervous about it, so it’s nice to hear there are others going through the same thing on the same day 😊 Good luck with yours! Xx

Thanks and to you too!!!!! Do let me know how it goes!! I’m also slightly nervous and I’m going to buy a little dressing gown haha . I’ve never been admitted in hospital since o was 6-7 years old or been sick as such so this is as much drugs as I’ve ever had in me plus the thought of being unconscious with people between my legs haha... slightly nerve wrecking but we will make it through!!
