How many fertilised became Blasts... anyone else planning transfer for next week?

Hi all,

After no success with my own eggs this is our first donor egg round and of the dozen frozen eggs we got 4 defrosted normally. Was a bit deflated last night but just been told this morning that all 4 fertilised normally! Phew!

Now the wait until we hear on Weds how many make it to blasts. Anyone else at the same stage or had 4 fertilised and how many embryos did you get and transfer? I'm thinking about transferring 2 as this would be the 5th IVF transfer but know with DE they go on the age of the donor not me so are reluctant if they are good quality.

I got 4eggs all 4 fertilised. We ended up with 2 blasts. Fresh was a chemical and our last was a BFP 🙌🏼 Good luck lovely 🥰

I also had to go down the DE route. Ours were fresh though not frozen. We got 12 eggs, 10 fertilised but only 3 made it to day 5 blast. We had hoped another two might catch up on day 6 but didn’t. We transferred one fresh on day 5 and froze 2. Got my BFP this morning.

Oh Acorn that's amazing news 😃💜 congratulations! We would have preferred a fresh donor but the wait was really long and a frozen donor came up I felt a good connection with. Lovely that your got your BFP and gives me hope that moving to DE will give us the dream we have been waiting for 😊 xx

We are donor too. We had 6 collected 5 fertilised normally, 2 made day 5 blasts and 1 made it on day 6 so we have three blasts in the freezer!

I know all clinics are different but fyi we wanted to transfer two because I’m 45 and we’ve done 6 fresh rounds of IVF with own eggs but my clinic have said that’s not possible due to the donor being younger

Thanks Daisy, congratulations on having 3 frosties. I suspect the clinic will say the same to me then about transferring two. Have you decided when you are doing your FET? Xx

Unfortunately they found I had loads of fibroids so I’ve just had an op two weeks ago and now have to wait six months for transfer! So frustrating! Heaps of luck - keep us updated! x

Oh that is annoying. At least they found out so you could get treated and sure the next round will be your time. Luckily those little frosties will be waiting for you but know how frustrating the wait will be xxx

Planning a transfer next Thursday! It’s a FET…. We had 13 eggs fertilised and only 3 made it to blast, but there’s a suspected sperm issue there ….. good luck!! 🤞🤞🤞🍀

I got told to expect 45-55% of fertilised to go to blastocyst stage. We were lucky and our rate was higher and we were using fresh eggs so not sure if that also makes a difference. Good luck.xx

Thanks Cinderella. I had about 50% in my head and would be perfect to have 2 blasts to give us options.

8 eggs collected, 6 mature enough, 5 fertilised by icsi, 3 blasts. FET one blast on 28/1/22. Currently 6/40 2 in freezer
