Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar. Had a frozen transfer today. They said the embryo survived the thaw but that it was still contracted and not expanded. I feel like it’s over before it’s begun. My husband said they wouldn’t have put it back it was wasn’t good, but I just feel so negative x

Embryo still contracted
Hey Sarah, I googled this a bit and apparently they all are contacted and then expand over time after thawing. I don’t think the embryologist would have allowed it to be transferred unless they thought it was viable. Think you still have a chance! I know it’s so easy to see the negatives in all this, I’m exactly like that and nervous for my transfer on Saturday. I was told they would call me if the embryo didn’t survive or wasn’t ok to put back. Sure that’s the case for you too. Keeping everything crossed for you xx
Thanks. You too. It’s so hard being positive isn’t it. I just wish they hadn’t said anything. Good luck for Saturday xx
You're right, we know too much sometimes! Thanks for the luck and will be thinking of you xx
Mine hadn’t completely expanded when they put it back and looked really odd in the photo but it’s now a 16 week pregnancy. They’re amazing things and once defrosted they just expand themselves gradually - they do this just as well inside you as they do in the lab.
Hi Sarahhall7112, I felt exactly like you. I had my third transfer recently (2nd frozen) and the embryo hadn’t fully expanded. It looked completely different from the others and wasn’t great quality so I was adamant it wasn’t going to work from the start. I was completely shocked when I tested on Monday and it was a BFP. Be positive and good luck x
