This is my first time posting. I had my egg collection for my 1st IVF cycle on Tuesday and they managed to retrieve 7 eggs out of which only 2 fertilised. The clinic gave me the option for a double transfer, which was supposed to be today, but I got a call from them this morning that both the embryos hadn’t cleaved (split) and were still only at single cell stage. They said if they do grow today, I might be able to have the transfer tomorrow. They also said it’s very unusual and 98% of fertilised embryos grow. Is there anyone who has had a similar experience and can tell me more? I feel like I’ve failed even before it began.

Hi Sarasan. Oh dear, not what you want to hear. However, when I first started out in fertility, we only did day 2 or 3 transfers, as we didn't have the expertise to grow embryos to Day 5. Fingers crossed that your little ones get moving and they can be transferred back into you whee they belong. Thinking of you. Diane
Hi Diane. Yeah it’s true that before they didn’t wait for day 5 to transfer. Unfortunately, my embryos just didn’t want to divide so I’ll have to try again. It’s a bummer that my first cycle and and I didn’t even get a chance for transfer.
Hi JoyfulStar, unfortunately it wasn’t good news. I got a call this morning that the embryos failed to divide at all. One of them did start to cleave yesterday, but by this morning it reversed. Looks like it’s a second try for me.
I am so so sorry to hear this. Let’s hope the second round turns better. It is worth asking your consultant what they think could be improved for the next round. All the best Sarasan. 🙏🏾
