HSG X RAY

So today I had my HSG Xray after being told on my ultrasound my ovaries look healthy I have now discovered one of my tubes is blocked. My husband was given tablets to help with his issues and has to retest his sperm so fingers crossed they have worked and we may have a slight chance of conceiving naturally. Have been told will be every other month the chance of me fallin pregnant but how do I work out which month is highest? Has anyone else conceived with only 1 tube? My head is literally all over the place and i keep breaking down i dont know what to think or feel. Xx

Do they think that you’re only ovulating every other month? If you did the deed every month (we were recommended to do it every 2-3 days throughout the whole cycle) then you should be covering your bases either way xx

I have the same - found out that one of my tubes were blocked after HSG. (To add on I have endo and a cyst in my good tube 😖) However my doctor had told me that the good tube should pick up the egg if you ovulate every month regardless of which ovary it is from, so your chance is not halved. Hope that helps!

Ok thankyou but if one tube is blocked it will only release an egg on my good side every other month as the blocked side wont get through. Is that not right? Xx

Chances aren't halved. I've always read that it's more like a 30% reduction in chance - so down to about 18% chance on any given month (equivalent statistic). The tubes (and ovaries) move throughout the cavity and it is not unknown for the good tube to move to the ovulating ovary. The tubes are NOT fixed to a particular ovary.

Ok thankyou. Im goin by what i was told yesterday and it really upset me. Thankyou for ur help xx

Sorry to butt into the conversation. Although the ovaries and tubes move and they can move quite a lot, they move paired. One tube cannot switch between ovaries. I'm a radiology doctor btw. X

Ok thankyou so my chances are halved? And what could have caused the blocking? Xx

in reply toSteffie06

In the most simplistic way yes but it's not as simple as that as the ovaries don't take it in turn to ovulate. As someone else said the best way is to have regular sex throughout your cycle. People can and do get pregnant with only 1 tube. May just take a little longer. X

I don't have words to console you. I know this is a really harsh reality. It becomes difficult to accept all this. Beung a parent is a couple's dream. All couples after entering into an alliance dream of a happy family. In your cae the situation jas not deterirated much. You still have the chances of success before you. It is great that the diagnosis on your condition is here. At the same time the sperm quality of your husband is being checked too. Once all the things are clear a better treatment will be possible. Fallopian tubes connect the ovaries and the uterus. Every month during the ovulation the eggs are released. These eggs reach the uterus with the help of these fallopian tubes. Unfortunately you have just one working tube. If your second tube is in perfect condotion the chances of getting pregnant are there. I have seen women born with single ovary conceiving the happiness. If your ovary is working fine, if the one fallopian tube you have is working and lastly if the monthly cycles are regular then there is nothing to worry. You can be pregnant. I pray that your husband's results are fine too. Keep posted the happenings.

hey there! I hope you are doing great.i am so sorry to hear about your loss. you have to be strong and stay hopeful. I had what they called unexplained infertility. I couldn't understand what was going on with me neither did the doctors. I struggled a lot with infertility but things worked out and I went for surrogacy. surrogacy proved amazing for me and I am so happy with it. I have two twins through surrogacy. and I am really happy that I went for it because it completed my family. surrogacy is totally safe and the baby is your genetically. and I think you should go for surrogacy as well. its a blessing of science we should make good use of it. I hope everything turns out well.
