What tests required after multiple miscarriages

I had 3 miscarriages and ivf failure and would like to know if i have to do any tests done before proceeding with another ivf.

I am 32 now, I have been trying for 5 years now. I had normal pregnancy first time naturally which ended up in miscarriage at 6 weeks. And then followed by back to back 2 ectopic pregnancies and removed both of my tubes. Recently i tried ivf and its a failure again. I do not have complications. All tests are positive. Only thing is i have a irregular cycle. Now i am wondering what else could be wrong with me and what tests i need get done before trying for another ivf.

Hi hun.

Sorry for your losses it's truly heart-breaking. You can ask for a refferal to the miscarriage clinic who'll will do the relevant tests hun.

I got referred to them and they found iv got a rare hereditary blood clotting disorder that puts me high risk for loss.

I can't remember all the tests but they do a lot.

Good luck hun hope you get some answers very soon.

Hello

I got referred to recurrent misscarriage clinic when I had my 4th loss. They did lots of blood tests to check hormone levels and to check things like thyroid. My thyroid test came back as the problem . Which I already knew but no one was listening to me. The results can take a long while to come back though : lots of love and all the best xx

Hi sorry for your losses. I've never had a pregnancy, but been ttc for 5 years and had one 1 cycle of ivf. I've just tested positive for the C4M2 variant (sticky blood) which can cause miscarriage and difficulties conceiving. I really wasn't expecting the positive result but now know why it probably hasn't worked for me so far. Although I've not had any miscarriages I've been on to my consultants about implantation failure. It's a little pricey but for me it's been worth it and I'm so glad my consultant recommended me having it. Good luck going forward xx

Couple years ago here was a girl with similar problem and her embryos was top quality . So i was doing lots of research after my first failure of ivf and I find that is something like NK cells that some women have a problem with. I replied to her to do test for that and it come out that she got it. Now she is mum of little boy and not long ago she went through FET and she got BFP . What I know there is no many places that they do it and is bit expensive but worth to ask . Xx

Hi, you didn’t mention your age? Miscarriage is so common. My 32 yr old friend had 4 consecutive miscarriages before having 2 healthy babies naturally. I’ve had 5 miscarriages and one termination due to severe abnormality but I got pregnant naturally at 43 twice in 2015. The first one I lost on an actual long haul flight (discovering 2 yrs later I have a blood clotting disorder) and the second pregnancy 6 months later was another missed miscarriage but was tested abnormal with trisomy 22. Following on from that more sadness at 14 weeks then 3 consecutive chemical pregnancies. In the last year i’d Developed a thyroid problem which also explains a lot but i’m Pregnant now and the only difference is i’m taking Clexane 40 daily to thin my blood and Levothyroxine 25 with blood tests every 6 weeks to monitor thyroid function. I would get tested for thyroid, immune and blood clotting issues to be safe and if you continue to have issues you can have a full karyotype test to check for any genetic mutations etc. Wishing you the best of luck going forward xxx

Th good news is your young and there’s no reason why you won’t have success next time! There’s no guarantees with ivf and it can be a bit of a numbers game. So many women have a miscarriage the first time they’re pregnant and the 2 ectopic ones had nothing to do with you or any abnormality, it’s jyst one of those horrible things that can happen. I would take great faith that you can get pregnant but discuss your concerns with your clinic - find out if there is a crucial test you’ve missed but I honestly think you’ll be fine going forward. I’ve had 6 cycles in just over 2 yrs, 4 bfp’s out of 7 and no babies as yet but cautiously optimistic about the precious blessing i’m carrying now 🙏🏼Xxx

Thank you!! Good luck!! I know you’ll be fine 😘

If you are in the UK then your GP should be referring you to a recurrent miscarriage clinic after three miscarriages, where they can carry out a range of tests xx

Hi, I’m similar, a miscarriage a late ectopic followed by both tubes being removed, IVF (resulting thankfully in one embryo which is now my DS), then 3 rounds which we used ICSI then IMSI which resulted in miscarriage. We found out along the way I have sticky blood and low egg count, my issues are addressed - I manage to get pregnant but then lose. In Feb this year we decided to have one final go and our consultant suggested my DH be referred for further testing. It has since transpired that DH’s sperm may well have been causing the miscarriages, but the toxin level is reversible so we were recommended to see the nutritionist Melanie Brown who was absolutely wonderful and spoke such sense to us about diet and supplements. I honestly wish we had seen her from the beginning.

With COVID we have had to delay and are starting again, but it seems this will give us a greater chance.

Good luck xxx
