Hi been told ivf is my only hope... Have stage 3endometriosis, very low AMH n heart shaped womb which may make carrying full term difficult if I manage to get that far. I have not very bad experiences in donegal with my consultant and my faith in the hse is at an all time low. I actually ended up being see in north under a cross border scheme and the service I received was amazing. Operated on and had my answers within 3 mts!!3years in south and only ever got bloods and a scan! But after op I was bounced back to the Irish system so doctor in north not available to ask for advice now. been told Ivf is only available privately in ireland n it's approx €4750 per round... I live in Donegal, the clinic that's been recommended is in galway 8hr round trip...am closer to Belfast and have heard more chances are offered per round there....my heads fried with everyone telling me it will all work out and I seem to b the only person taking on board that my chances are so slim...I need the best clinic possible... Where as my consultant is only giving me one option n no information! Have any of you been through this on both sides of border....any you recommend one clinic above another? Any advice be appreciated

Hi I live in Northern Ireland and had my IVF treatment here 3 years ago. Then it cost in the region of £6000 inc meds. I was so very very fortunate and it worked first time. Thank goodness as we had no embryos to freeze and no further money to pay for another round. The clinic we used has since closed and joined forces with another clinic. I don't know if I am allowed to menton them by name so will pm you. My advice is to see if any of the clinics north or south offer an open evening and see if you get a feel for the place also I think the fsa website publishes sucess rates for uk and ni based clinics. Also bear in mind traveling distance as you might have to travel to the clinic daily for scans when going through treatment. Best of luck with whatever you decide xx

I could never afford it. I will be getting a loan for 1 round of IVF...if it doesn't work I have no other options... Gotta pray for a lotto win pretty soon!!!. Am not sure surrogatey is even legal in ireland with all the backward laws!! Adoption laws here are a joke as well... It all comes down to money!

Hi Annie, it’s all such a mine field isn’t it!

I believe that the Belfast clinic (not allowed to mention names) do clinics in Derry/ Ballykelky and Letterkenny so you can have some consultations there and just visit Belfast for part of the treatment. That would probably be a lot better than trekking to Galway!

They also have finance options/ refund programmes if that would help x
