Try again next month

So it’s my second cycle of IUI. I am on day 12 of the 2ww. Period was a couple of days late and I had some bleeding that looked like an implantation bleed rather than AF on day 9. So I was really hoping that I would have been pregnant. However I’ve just started bleeding again.

Anyone else had implantation bleeding which has stopped and started over several days? I feel like this time it’s over for me. I’ve said to myself to have four goes then maybe rethink my options....

I’m also confused about what to do and what not to do during 2ww. I love coffee and asked the doctor about this at my last appointment. He said one or two cups is fine, so I’ve stuck to that. I do a fair bit of exercise- swimming, jogging, cycling and yoga/ Pilates. For me that doesn’t count as strenuous or vigourus as it’s what I do anyway, bit scared that that’s what made it not work. But I feel like if I didn’t do it I’d get stressed and that would be bad as well???? Anyone else got thoughts (or seen any proper research about this)

Hi Beatgirl, don’t give up! I went through 6 cycles over 2 and a bit years and out of 7 transfers I got 4 bfp’s. My advice from the hospital was zero caffeine, zero booze. If you must have coffee wean yourself off with decaf gradually to avoid headaches. The 2ww is not the time for exercise, just rest and look after yourself. A top private maternity hospital gave me strict instructions- try not to stretch upwards, no heavy lifting whatsoever, just v light walking if no bleeds and after the first 5 days only. I was advised no yoga, nothing. I did some v light walking after 7 days and started spotting but I was put on bedrest immediately and Progesterone suppositories increased. Every dr is different and advice varies but ive followed it this time and almost 10 weeks pregnant 🙏🏼 Good luck xxx

Thank you so much for replying. I’ve so much admiration for you, what a journey -two and a half years!

Do you know if the advice differs between IUI and ivf??

I wouldn’t have thought so because the implantation process is surely the same? I’ve tried different approaches but in terms of the money I’ve spent I’ve wanted to do everything in my power to give it the best chance. I’m naturally a hyperactive person, running around like mad so it’s hard to retrain and take it easy. Other clinics say no bedrest, resume a normal lifestyle but following that advice I had 3 chemical pregnancies, could be coincidence but wouldn’t risk it xxx

Ok thanks that’s really useful. I think I’ll book some of the 2ww off work so I can just chill in the garden!

I never had implantation bleeding with either of my pregnancies ( I have a son and I had a miscarriage last year) but I know many ladies on here have.

I also have had bleeding 6,10, 12 days post ovulation last cycle and unfortunately my period came but I have got in touch with my fertility specialist to see why it’s happening; I can let you know what he says if that would help?

I hope yours is implantation bleeding and you get a lovely positive test on test day 😘 my sister bled very heavily at point of implantation so it’s not always little amount and she had my niece whose nearly five ❤️ xoxo

Yeah, thank you. That would be useful to know what the specialist says. I guess it might be different for each person though.

Gonna have to have a think about ways of not getting het up about the 2ww. So hard!!

I know it’s impossible not to hope! But I think I will be trying not to hope too much next cycle. It’s so hard isn’t when it’s all you want? xoxo
