❓Chemical Cramps ⁉️

Can anyone tell me if the 2 days of intense cramping I'm experiencing are normal after a confirmed 'chemical' loss. I am bleeding heavily but the pain is quite full on to the point it's taking my breath away despite paracetamol & codeine (I'm Max'd out on these) and not a softy either!! Thanks in advance x

Hiya,

Gosh that doesn’t sound very good. Are you still taking oestrogen meds? How long since your ET?

If it’s signs of ohss then you should get medical advice ASAP. I don’t think anyone should be in that level of pain- certainly doesn’t sound normal.

Not to alarm you- there can be many causes but best to call the out of hours doctor in your clinic or even 111 to see the hospital x

Hiya thanks for your reply. I stopped my progesterone on Thurs eve (after confirmed numbers halved) and started to bleed Friday morning. It's definitely period type pain and I wasn't in any danger of OHSS during stims. I'll call the clinic tomorrow morning just to check x

Ok that’s good Signs then.

If it’s period pains then try magnesium baths/oil skin sprays (tablets are good but may cause tummy troubles)

The same prostaglandins that cause abdominal cramps cause uterine cramps and magnesium helps to relax it. It’s recommended for period pains and I personally found it massive help. Plus it’s a natural mineral and not meds so might work better.

Ibuprofen and anti inflammatories will also work better for relaxing cramps and pain than paracetamol /codeine will x

Many thanks I will try some, I like the idea of a natural mineral...esp after all these crazy hormones! x

I’m so sorry you are going through this.

I had one last year and it was horrendous.

I had intense cramping & bleeding huge clots. I had lots of hot baths & hot water bottle to ease the cramps ( I didn’t want to take pain relief as I was not 💯 sure it was a mc at the time)

Unfortunately I think because the body was geared up to have a baby the pain will be severe ☹️; just rest up and look after yourself ; if you are bleeding a pad every hour or so go to A & E that’s what EPU told me to do.

You can take take ibuprofen with the co-codamol. xoxo

Mine was for at least a couple of days but I guess it was not as intense as yours. You might want to check with the clinic tomorrow if you are still in pain . Big hugs xx

Everyone’s will be different; my spotting started day after our positive test ( happiness was short lived) and then got heavier. It started Friday by Monday it was all over.

I hope it eases soon for you xoxo
