Headaches at 8 weeks

So, I normally suffer from migraines which I take prescription medication for but hadn't had a single migraine since egg collection. Since Saturday night I've had such horrible headaches pretty much constantly. Before Saturday I had had only a couple of days of slight nausea but now have it almost all of the time, don't know if that's down to the headaches or coincidence. My fluid intake is pretty good & my GP said I can only take paracetamol which does nothing to help so I don't want to keep popping them. Anyone else had this & have any other suggestions as to what might help... Even a little bit? X

Thanks Hun, that's very kind xx

Hi lovely, so sorry you’re suffering, your symptoms have definitely kicked in!! This sounds v normal to me. 2 of my previous pregnancies had constant and simultaneous nausea with bad headaches. Like you I didn’t want to be popping pills all the time especially with the latest research about paracetamol having some effect on boy babies. Just lay down and rest while you can, drink lots of water as you have been and get some advice from your clinic/doctor. Good old pregnancy hormones...I still only have coming and going boob pain and as much as feeling poorly is not ideal I would feel reassured with a few more so at least you know bubba is thriving 🙏🏼 Xxx

I had awful migraines at first and midwife suggested an eye test. So I did and ended up with glasses x x

Thank you for your reply, there may well be something in that actually as I am well overdue an eye test. I know my eyes aren't brilliant actually but have been to lazy before now to get them checked x

A GP took my blood pressure on Tuesday to make sure it was ok. It was low at 99/72 so he just said put up with it. My head doesn't feel too bad this morning thankfully so I'm hoping it will ease off now x

Sounds like you're having all the symptoms which is a good sign 😊 I only have had mild headaches which usually go with plenty of water and a bit of rest so can't really offer any further advice but hope it gets better soon xx

in reply toLilli79

I'm hoping after today I'll have more chance to rest as I'm not sleeping well at night which I know can be a trigger for my bad heads. So far today its not too bad which I'm thrilled about x

My sleep has been awful lately. I can't really pinpoint what the problem is as I'm usually comfortable in bed and I don't feel like I'm over thinking but it usually is the lead up to scans. Got my 20 week scan in 2 weeks and I'm part excited part terrified. Just hope my little ones are ok. I'm off to the pharmacist today to see if he can recommend anything for sleep. Glad to hear you feel better today, so many ups and downs to this! 😌

My migraine trigger is lack of sleep as well. I had one last week and had to take paracetamol as it was unbearable, even though I’d promised myself I wouldn’t take it if I could help it. So I know how you feel! Since then I’ve really prioritised getting enough rest which has included afternoon naps on my days off and early bedtimes every day. Hubbie even went to the spare room for a couple of nights to try to help me out.
