BBT thermometer confusion!!

Hi all 👋

I wondered if anyone could advise please...

I’ve been measuring my BBT temperature for about 5 months now. I’ve been using a cheap thermometer but last month my acupuncturist suggested to get a more popular one Braun which has lots of great reviews. Since I started using the new one, my temperature difference is quite big! The question is now which one IS CORRECT?! I’m very confused and don’t know what to do because what if the old one always gave me wrong temperatures?!?

Has anyone had a similar experience?? 🙏

I think as long as you don’t change mid cycle, you will still see the same patterns emerge. So start the new one from CD1? I guess it’s not the temps themselves or the zig zagging, but the overall pattern. Are you using an app? I have temped for years with a cheapie and never gave much thought to the cheapness of my thermometer as it does the job xx

Yes, I do use an app as well, which helps to indicate an ovulation.

I wouldn’t care much about cheap termomether but as I have changed recently (from CD1) I can’t help but to wonder which one is correct! Strangely, the new one doesn’t actually show I ovulated... And my old one showed ovulation each month. So I do wonder now whether I do ovulated after all!

I could be reading too much into it but the difference between those two is too significant I think (and I have thought my new one is faulty so I even replaced it!). I’ve also been using both termomethers every morning for a while. I’m having a month break now from BBT as the last few months have been too stressful with ttc...

I don’t want to get too stressed out about this but really need to figure out which termomether is correct... 😬
