I have basically been diagnosed with perimenopause and as I have low amh of less than 1 and high fsh levels.
Still on waiting list for my 1st treatment to try a round anyway as I'm only 32 and age is on my side but I have since been reading that ivf can out you into menopause a lot sooner, can anyone give me any advise on this?
Thanks xx

I have an info leaflet from my clinic that says you don’t use up your egg supply during ivf as those follicles would just have been released that month anyway. I also have read though that the docs don’t prescribe Clomid for low amh as it uses up eggs too fast so basically I don’t fully know the answer to your question but interested to find out. What I do know is that you probably still have many eggs from the millions you were born with & that all ladies lose them not just through ovulation but on a daily basis so don’t think ivf will deplete them any quicker & hopefully you still have some good ones Good luck xx
Yes it is ! We are certainly not alone here in this forum in what otherwise feels like a very lonely journey . Hope your name comes up soon on the waiting list xx
Hi ama4 so sorry to hear your news. I was told that I was peri-menopausal after my AMH levels were measured at less than 0.4 and follicle count was very low at 4-5. I'm 38 and wasn't very hopeful about our chances but we were lucky enough to get a BFP on the 1 round of IvF we were offered, it's early days (6 weeks) but our first tests came back fine and I never thought we'd get this far. The quality of your eggs is more important than quantity and as you said, age is on your side. IVF doesn't deplete your reserves. ClaraB is right, the stims will encourage more of the existing follicles to develop in a given cycle, in a normal month your body would recruit one of these to mature and the rest would be lost anyway. So it makes absolutely no difference to your remaining egg supply - IVF does not tip you faster into menopause. I wanted you give you some hope because it is very possible to get a positive result despite low AMH - good luck! Xxx
Thanks so much girls I feel much more positive now..so pleased it worked on round 1 for Jomcg amazing news. I had pretty much given up hope that my round would work but this has restored it ❤💪 come on little eggs lol xxx
Hey, ama4 sorry for what you are facing. Good luck with your treatements hopefully everything will be alright. You can get rid of your problem by visiting your doctor. Logically you can be worried that ivf could cause a menopause but in an IVF cycle medicines are used to simulate ovaries so that they can produce more eggs in one cycle. My advice to you is to be calm You are still young and you have other options too . Please have an eye on other options. Keep your self mentally prepare for everything. MEDICAL SCIENCE is a blessing and it is helping out every infertile couple out there. All you need to visit the good clinic and the best doctor for you As this is a very crucial time of your life I hope everything works well in your favor. IVF is bit risky procedures many women miscarriages in the first cycle and it makes them more disappointed so while choosing any method we should look from all sides and all prospectives. Good luck.
