Hello again! Over the past four weeks I've been rushed into hospital via ambulance 3 times, and the first time kept for 5 days because of a high heart rate. I've had dozens of tests and they can't work out why, some people are thinking stress, we've had a year from hell with 2 failed cycles and one positive ending in a mmc, and then my school has been taken over but what I can only describe as the dementors! I have counselling already, go to acupuncture, have a great support network, and I'm even trying a gong bath tomorrow! But I can't carry on like this, and I'm tempted to ask for beta blockers to chill my heart out, but is it safe in IVF? I've got my scratch on Friday and will be starting at the beginning of November on round 4. Any advice would be amazing!! Hope you're all well and surviving xxxxxx
Beta blockers and IVF : Hello again... - Fertility Network UK
Beta blockers and IVF
Poor thing. I take it they've tested thyroid?? No idea about whether beta blockers are safe sorry xx
Yeah they tested everything! It was slightly elevated then came down so they don't think it's that, so who knows! Xx
I can sometimes get really heart racy, I think it's like anxiety and panic since starting investigations for infertility, and doing the 2 rounds of ivf. It happens whenever I'm a bit worried about anything or if work gets stressful, or sometimes out of the blue. The more I think about it, even trying deep breathing, the worse it gets. If I can completely distract myself it goes away. I hope it calms down for you xxx
I was beta blockers for migraines. I had to come off them before we started trying as the doctor told me they weren't safe x
Ah ok that's good to know, thank you! Cx
Sounds to me like a new school might be in order if possible. It's so tempting to stick it out but if you're getting so stressed it is making you poorly then maybe you need to move on - you need your energy for the ivf.
I know you weren't asking for advice about your job so I hope you do not take offence. I was compelled to write because I found my life got soooo much easier when I moved schools, and it made it easier to concentrate on the fertility stuff!
I hope you feel better soon x
No offence taken! I've been at my school for 8 years, and I have a fantastic group of people around me, but it is untenable at the moment, however if the miracle happens I need the maternity pay! It's a bloody tricky situation at the mo! Xxx
If you're in a local authority school, and move within the LA, you'd still be entitled to mat pay, same if you moved within the same trust. Some other posts will honour mat pay entitlements too, though this is a tricky thing to find out about!
Have you worked out exactly how much money the mat pay would be? When I worked out how little it actually would be (relatively), I realised it wasn't actually as worth it as I thought. Might be worth doing the maths?
Oh really? No I haven't looked at how much it would be, I'll look into that, thank you! I'm going to get signed off for the entirety of this round, and if the worse happens then I think it will be time to find a different school, or different career, not sure I can cope with all the politics! Hope you're well Xxx
Hope you feel better soon xx
