Just wanted to say you are not alone but I’m not sure why it happens. over the last year and a half I have had months where I get spotting before af starts & when I do it can be brown or even black & often quite sticky & stringy. I also seem to get clots during af itself which are also very dark even though the blood itself is quite bright red. I’m Following your post to see if anyone has answers . Think brown blood means it’s older blood or perhaps left over from last cycle but doesn’t seem to be too uncommon x
Yes! I get exactly this. I’ve described it as sticky / tar like too. I’ve had it now for probably a year. I have started to wonder if it’s my age etc and period changing as I move to leases menopause maybe?! I’m 43 in June.
It’s great to know others have the same thing as I was beginning to think it was just me! Hopefully someone will have an answer to what this is / means.
My gynaecologist has f’d me off basically, told me I’m unexplained and have two choices try naturally for however long or ivf self funded! I asked for a lap and he said no x
Oh no. I had trouble with my first consultant and went back to gp who referred me again to another one. Totally different story with new one and he was appalled the first one wouldn’t investigate with my list of symptoms.
Maybe go back to gp? It can seem a backwards step but mine was awesome. Good luck! xx
Mine has been like that for years. Never used to be in my 20s. I’m 38 now. The only thing recently discovered with me, despite me raising concerns over the years about my period, is that I have a blood clotting disorder; lupus anticoagulant. Have you had any kind of surgery on your womb at all? Ashermans syndrome can cause similar symptoms. I knew I didn’t have this as I hadn’t had any surgery there xx
