PRP/Ovarian rejuvenation for older ladies?

Forestcat1 profile image
79 Replies

Hello, I'm wondering if there are any older ladies (mid 40s+) on here who are interested in this treatment and would like to chat about it? I have some information from one of the first clinics to provide the treatment and it is a very simple procedure done under mild sedation, basically injecting a sample of your own blood into your ovaries to reactivate. It is a quick procedure and a reasonable price. If anyone is interested do contact me for more information, I would like to try it myself and would like to chat to like-minded ladies for moral support. Thanks :)

See below ...

PRP (autologous platelet-rich plasma) treatment in menstruation and folliculogenesis

restoration in menopausal and peri-menopausal women

PRP is a procedure applied by us to menopausal or perimenopausal

women since late 2015. More than 500 patients

have experienced this technique and data coming from patients

from all over the world having already experienced the

technique with us show that half of patients with amenorrhea

show recovery of menses and ovulation in the subsequent cycles.

Seven ongoing pregnancies are reported so far following IVF

(three in a natural cycle and four under stimulation).

Hi Forestcat1. I decided to have PRP done because I hate not having my periods. Feeling very low. Travelling in 10 days. Some friends are sceptical but a decision was made.

Hello all, Im 40 years old and I had PRP about 4 days ago in Turkey - Istanbul (Acibadem Hospital in Maslak). It cost 5000 Turkish Lira, I would ighly recommend and I hope that I can get pregnant naturally. I came for IVF treatment but I had only one follicle which didn't respond to medicines at all, therefore they have to stop the treatment and advise that we have to try PRP. Its very new but according to their patients they have very good results and like every 1 in 5 got pregnant naturally. Im going back to UK on Monday and if Im still not pregnant then I'll come back in 2 months time to start IVF. PRP is increasing chance of egg follicle that I may better response to medicines.

Good luck to everyone.

Good luck Essi, awaiting your good news. I have recently enquired about this procedure and found out it is available in Athens. It costs 1800 euros. It seems lots more cheaper in Istambul. I have found the hospital info and have just contacted them. I understand it is a very quick procedure.

Essi profile image
Essi in reply toAmy1974

Thank you Amy1974. it is indeed very quick procedure and hospital was like a 5 star hotel. Just please bear on your mind that they have to start on your monthly cycle day 2/3.

My period is slightly late this month but i guess because I had failed IVF and my body is still trying to recover from all those hormones.

Let us know how it goes.

Essi profile image
Essi in reply toCarlyrollason

hi all,

Im in Istanbul. Unfortunately I don't have any follicle to start for treatment. They said come back in 2 months time but I don't have energy for this anymore. My AMH level is 0.028 and Im 40.5 years old.

its now dream for me. Im very upset. I don#y know what to do.

Carlyrollason profile image
Carlyrollason in reply toEssi

I’m sorry to hear that. It does take its toll on us.

I’m using donor eggs at the moment but only have one left.

My clinic has now decided I need further investigation before my next transfer.

I hope you get your dream and thank you for replying xx

Essi profile image
Essi in reply toCarlyrollason

I'm mentally not prepare for the donor egg but I've asked my sister, but she's already 38 (but she has 3 kids) and she's smoking but I don't think she's very keen to donor anyway. I've chosen outside of UK because it was very expensive in UK but now I don't know how I should continue. I'm not sure if I come back in June. I'm really scare of not hoping for anything,

I hope all work for you, I hope God will make it and we can write our pregnancy news from here.

I have last scan tomorrow to see if I'm ovulating late, if they see even a small follicle I think they can start for IVF. Please please pray for me. xxx

Hi Star,

Thank you for info. This is what my clinic told me actually. They said they may do another PRP but Im not planning yo go back. I’ll save some money and will go to Care fertility in UK.

I’m wondering why they don’t do PRP in UK, would you know anything?

Thanks xx

Thank you Star121! Really helpful info indeed And thank you for searching all cliniques to advise to us. My hospital in Istanbul told me that they will starting Mesenchymal Stem Cell from Sep/Oct this year. I think they meant that even PRP is not enough for me to produce any egg as I had no follicle in April. And I'm 7 days late for my period this month. I'm not sure if I'm going though early menopause as I was very upset when I came back from Istanbul and had blood test here in UK. I don't know if results were stress related but my FSH back 110 and LH 60. They will repeat the test next month. But what i found incredible is I had blood test early in April and my FSH was 10.5 and LH was 8.35. I don't know if any of them made a mistake.

I read one of your comments regarding Mesenchymal Stem Cell and looks very promising. I'm really looking forward to have it done.

Essi profile image
Essi

Hi Star121,

No, they didn't tell me how much will be Mesenchymal Stem cost as they will be starting in Oct'19. I don't know why mine PRP didn't work. They are saying that it could take time up to 8 months.

I went to Care clinic in UK. They suggested me to try Modified Natural IVF. So I'm not sure which route to take to be honest,

Amy1974 profile image
Amy1974 in reply toEssi

Dear Essi,

My PRP did not work either. I have just had an unsuccessful ivf . Only one folecule found in my right ovary, there was nothing in my left ovary (4 months after the PRP in Athens ). Still I decided to go with ivf anyway. I told my doctor that I did PRP in April in Greece. He laughed and said that PRP is a scam.

If PRP was rejuvenating the ovaries, shouldn't you have a few at least, he said. Don't known what to think, but feel he's right.

He said PRP is very cheap for clinics to perform and generate easy profit - he said it is not ethical to offer it as there is no scientific evidence.

I measured AMH every month as they advised in Athens, but did not see any improvement, only slight decrease.

I thought I share this with all, so other ladies avoid unnecessary expenses.

You did also M Stem ? If yes how much cost and it was useful?

Could you tell me the name if the Dr and clinic where you done PRP?

Hi Star121,

I've tried looking for the doctor you recommended for PRP but I can only see he is based in Greece. I don't see a UK office. Do you have the details of his UK office?

Also do you know what countries in Europe are definitely offering stem cell treatment?

Best x

I am researching about this too as I have low ovarian reserve and didn’t respond well to traditional ivf. Would love to learn more. So far I don’t see any clinics in London offering the procedure although there is one with affiliation in Spain. Seems like it’s done more widely in Spain ans Greece ?
