I'm currently waiting to go through yet another round of ivf in Spain and I am struggling at the moment to sort things out.
I had a first scan and used the same company in the U.K. ( thought this would be easier) and came home and went to work the next day then for a phone call saying I need a blood test the same day! I couldn't just leave work and my doctors don't do tests and results in a day; I couldn't go back to the London clinic either...I could not get the test done in time which meant the cycle was ruined for that month...frustrated and devastated. Waste of time and money.
Now the clinic are saying it is my fault...

Oh I feel for you, it’s hard enough coping with all of this in the Uk, I can’t imagine the extra mental load of going to another country. Not to mention the expense! It sounds like poor management on their part. Hope you can sort this out so you can continue with the treatment. Did they suggest anything to help move things on from this hiccup? Xx
Yes, we decided to do it in another country because we thought it would be less stress and we could have a holiday and relax...hasn't really worked out 😕. Have to start again next month and hope they can get their act together and tell me what I need...1 step forward 2 steps back 😤
I wouldn't mind but I could have gone back the same day if needed but they didn't ring until the next day..then it was too late. Then the clinic said that I needed to be close to a clinic that give me blood test results the same day or it is 'impossible to do treatment'- great! 😒
oh dear, I thought those clinics were supposed to be very good, that's a real shame. Waiting is the hardest part! xx
Hello I'm at a Spanish clinic that I can't fault at all there contact has been fantastic. They have emailed sets of guidelines and advice and give us plenty notice for the information they need. I can pm the name of u like xxx
I used a Spanish clinic too, we had very clear instructions about what needed to be done but they didn’t tell us we would need scans & bloods every other day before egg collection so that caused a bit of stress. If we’d known in advance then we could have planned for that & accounted for it too.
My de round was much easier, it was just the waiting for news of the donor that took forever (we weren’t allowed to choose our own, we were effectively matched). However our clinic do mild IVF on donors as they say it produces better quality eggs & we only ended up with 2 embryos! (Most people have much more). Just about to have the second one transferred in April so prepping for transfer now.
I do like our clinic but not sure I’d use them again if I had the money for another round.
Are your clinic charging you for the cancelled round? Xxxx
Hi there, thanks for that I hope it all goes well for you. Luckily I am at the beginning and have not been charged yet (only when I go out to Spain for egg collection) so that is something at lease. I would be devastated if I had to cancel the cycle midway through and had wasted the drugs. I think there needs to be clear instructions; luckily I do know what to expect because I have gone through it 3 times in England but if it was my first go I wouldn't have a clue!
That’s good that you haven’t had to pay anything yet. We had to pay half of the balance before starting the stimms.
So we’re you having a scan to check you were ready to start treatment then? At least you have one more month to enjoy a glass of wine & get ready for next time 😊 xxxx
Thinking of doing so at this stage the only problem is I have paid for the drugs for their protocol- which are expensive. They seem to be pretty standard- I have used them before so may be able to switch and use the same drugs.
