Hi aqua, sorry for the stupid quest but I’m rubbish with the short hand terminology, as I’m on different drugs. Is this your trigger shot! I was on gonal f and I had a pen that didn’t work properly. I had to ring the number on the paperwork of the drugs breakdown I got in my delivery and arrange for a new pen to be delivered. As I was taking this all week I used another pen in the meantime. If this is your trigger shot can you ring the clinic where egg collection is taking place as I’m sure they will be more help. Also have you tried with a new needle? I hope you manage to get the answers you need and good luck x

Hi birdboy thanks for replying to me. Yes it was my trigger shot. Rang the emergency nurse again this morning hoping I got another but no such luck. I've taken a preg test tho to test if hcg present and did get a 2nd faint line. (Faint 1st 5 min then got stronger?) So encouraged that at least some went in me!!! Jus hope now there is still enough tomorrow morning and if tested again wouldn't show a negative if it was too small amount n all left me. Keep needing to see if that got an connection or perhaps jus cause I had got so worked up!!!. Thanks again your help :)

Hey Aqua. First things first... try not to panic... bit hard since you’ve been worrying all night!

Will the out of hours nurse be the same one today? Sounds like this one wasn’t very reassuring or helpful. Guessing she didn’t even tell you what the outcome might be now?

Probably not very helpful... but you won’t be the first or last lady this has happened to. Hoping a lovely lady on here has some thoughts. You could also email Diane on here xx

Hi emu thanks for messaging. As can see above i have tested faint positive to preg test so surely some at least must have gone in!? Jus need 2moro am to come quickly to find out if collection can go ahead at 9am or I've stuffed it up!! Hate this pressure they leave to yourself to carry out. My instruction was rubbish & even over the phone could tell me whether I may have turned the pen backwards to reach 0 or not. Either was two shots still came out the pen when it was out of me so know I didn't give the correct amount 😢

Hi Aqua17 I'm not totally sure what advice to give you. However, just after we had our EC done a couple of months ago there was a lady next to us who's trigger shot did not work for whatever reason (we weren't being nosy, but there was literally only a curtain between my bed and hers so hard not to hear!). The doctor told her that this sometimes happens, either through a mistake during trigger injection or just that it doesn't take. She was advised to take another trigger shot that night and then have EC again 2 days later. Did you get any of the meds in or did it just not work at all? I think if some of it went in then its probably best not to take another shot so soon, but hopefully your clinic can advise when someone more helpful is on! It really is the most nerve wracking bit of the whole process so please don't blame yourself. Not really impressed with the nurse for not being helpful though, am sure you don't need that added stress. I hope it works out for you xx

Thank you Lillie. The pregnancy test I did today indicates at least some of the trigger shot went in as shown a faint positive pregnancy. Fingers crossed will either be enough for EC or like you say can jus delay by couple days. Just fear messed up whole cycle and will have to pay and start another! Think only us that know how stressful it is and care. Shocking how bad I felt last night jus asked if can go anywhere to see anyone that can help and told no its done nothing you can do now . Tought basically was attitude. I think about the customer service I provide in my role and how much drive to go extra n that's no where near as important and significant as this! Someone should administer if so easy to go wrong. I just pressed end the pen and held it in but not realising have to continue press all green tube in which made solution shoot out shame realised with it held up in the air!! 🙈. Relived 9pm last night over a 1000 times now all Can do is 🤞

Oh I feel for you so much! I remember panicking with my trigger shit when I couldn’t see the circle and I spent ages trying to find it.

The fact that you have a faint positive on an hCG test must mean that some got into you. Does your clinic have an IVF doctor on call rather than the nurse? I know that it’s meant to be for bleeding etc but maybe you could have a chat with them or try to see if there is a different nurse on call?

Thinking of you and let us know how you get on. Xxx

Oops looks like I (or my phone) did not write shot properly!!!! Apologies xx

Lol thanks Zoe . No only given a nurses number to contact. yea will let you know xx

in reply toAqua17

Is it an NHS hospital? You could try calling switchboard and see if they can put you through? Just be prepared that they might view it as cheeky but this is important to you xx

Hi Zoe think if some the shot is in me as must be they will say can't take another shot so will jus have to see how scan shows up tomorrow. Preg test made me a little more settled than hysterical I was last night. 9am seems forever away counting the seconds lol least positive is its stopped me dreading the EC!! Prey now they say it's all fine and still in good position for cycle to work xx

Will be thinking of you. Try to find something to distract yourself if you can- there’s nothing else you can do. Maybe go for a walk- is the sun shining where you are? Xxx
