Late trigger shot šŸ˜±

Help! Last night was my last round of injections before egg collection on Friday. I have taken my usual injections at the same time and I was told to wait until 10pm for the trigger shot. I have no idea how but I managed to fall asleep and woke up panicking at midnight having missed my trigger shot so I did it just after midnight (2 hours late). I havenā€™t slept all night thinking I messed this up as I know how important the 36 hours are and my surgery on Friday will be at 10am so 2 hours before. I called the nurse this morning and she said she will get back to me and this was the first time anyone ever done something like this. I canā€™t help but feel so shit šŸ˜„

Has anyone gone through the same before? What happened?

Morning,Iā€™m sure it will be fine! I was told my egg collection was going to be at 8 but by the time I got there, tests etc it wasnā€™t till 9:15ish. I was thinking ā€˜isnt this meant to happen on the hour precisely 36hrs after!?ā€™ So I really wouldnā€™t worry too much, im sure couple hours wonā€™t make too much difference.

Keep us posted :) x

I wouldnā€™t worry either! They will probably just have to stay a bit later and do you last on the list. With the amount those private drs and anaesthetists get paid, Iā€™m sure they can do a bit of overtime one day! Xx

I have just called the nurse and it sounds like the clinic has said they couldnā€™t move my appointment as they are fully booked however they are trying to convince them to slot me in as I have already done all the treatment and it would be such a shame to waste it all. I am feeling so stressed right now I donā€™t know what to do šŸ˜

Sorry this has happened. I would suggest some fresh air whilst you are waiting to hear back. If you have any pets spend time with them. There's unfortunately nothing you can do in terms of pre-empting what will happen but you can control your environment and try and prevent the stress as best you can. Xx

The Dr just called me to tell me off for forgetting the injection. She said the clinic wonā€™t move my slot and they told me to go in and they will either see me before (34 hours instead of 36 hours after trigger shot) or they wonā€™t see me at all. They already warned me about the risks of bei g unsuccessful. I canā€™t believe this, I feel like I am set up for failure šŸ˜I donā€™t know what to do!

I am sure there is some leeway, not everyoneā€™s body responds in the same way so the 36 hours cannot be so precise. My clinic were running late when I went for egg collection - Iā€™m pretty sure an hour or two either way will be within the normal variation. Good luck, Iā€™m sure it will be just fine. You are definitely not the only person this has happened to x

Oh no, what a nightmare. When you talk to the clinic find out if they're fully booked with other collections or with frozen transfers and scans and other things. Collections do have a time frame but with a bit of goodwill other procedures could be moved to squeeze you in. I really hope it works out xxx

I have already been told they canā€™t move my appointment as they are fully booked šŸ˜” no sympathy at all

Oh what an absolute nightmare. No wonder youā€™re so stressed. The best thing to do now is think that what will be, will be and try to sleep tonight without worrying. You poor thing - i will keep everything crossed that they fit you in šŸ’•šŸ€šŸ’•maybe your eggs needs less time and this has happened for a reason!! šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

I donā€™t think it makes much difference but the important thing to do now is to let them know and they will work around it, Iā€™m sure! Good luck for tomorrow xxx

I wish it was that simpleā€¦ they have been absolutely unhelpful. Thank you though xxx

Is this a private clinic or with NHS? What did they say?

HopeNeverDies profile image
HopeNeverDies

NHS, they said they are fully booked and canā€™t postpone my appointment therefore I will have my EC at 34 hours and already told me it might be unsuccessfulā€¦ to add to the insult they said: oh well you only have 4 follicles so you had low chances anyway.

SR90 profile image
SR90ā€¢ in reply toHopeNeverDies

Very heartless comment for them to make!! You still have a chance regardless of follicle quantities.

My trigger went from 36hrs in cycle 1 to 38hrs on all other cycles as they wanted to leave me later to try for better maturity results. However this time, they had an emergency in the clinic when I was due to go into egg collection so I ended up going in an hour late. The nurse came in and said ā€˜donā€™t worry, we always allow a few hours extra either side for situations like this so youā€™re still within your timeframeā€™.

So basicallyā€¦ donā€™t worry. You canā€™t change it now so donā€™t beat yourself up, you definitely wonā€™t be the only person to have ever done that. You may be someone who benefits from less time between trigger and collection, or something on the day may happen that pushes you back like mine did. Good luck x

I don't think its an issue I remember in one o fly ivy I was scheduled for 8 am and doctor came at 10 , 2 hours late as he had surgery. I don't think it has to be on the dot. don't stress about it.

Oh gosh, Iā€™m so sorry theyā€™re being so unhelpful. Clearly not something youā€™d have meant to do and Iā€™m sure youā€™re already feeling as bad as you can without them laying it on.

Wanted to add a voice to the exact timing not mattering crew, I had my EC on Monday and they struggled for 40 minutes to get a cannula into the woman before me - before she passed out (donā€™t blame her!) so I was about an hour and a half late. All I could imagine was ovulating in the waiting room! They told me of course you have a few hours window else it would almost never work!

Good luck with your 4 X

Thank you šŸ™ that poor lady, bless her šŸ˜„ Oh God you must have been under a lot of stress too, sorry to hear! Fingers crossed for us thenā€¦ update tomorrow ā˜ŗļø X

I had the call from the clinic: out of the 4 eggs, 1 fertilised and 1 didnā€™t. The other 2 were not mature enough to be fertilised yesterday however they matured overnight and they will be fertilised today. I will know if the 2 will be fertilised by tomorrow but even if they do they apparently will have to be frozen and canā€™t be used in this cycle.

So apparently I am left with 1 egg and 1 big decision: transfer on day 3 or wait until day 5??

Has anyone had similar experiences?

FrancyItaly profile image
FrancyItalyā€¢ in reply toHopeNeverDies

I donā€™t think it is for you to decide, they should see how it is developing. Since it is only 1 for now they might transfer on day 3, which is when? Tuesday?
