AMH 1.4

Hello ladies,

So I'm on the start of this journey, having been trying to get pregnant for 21 months now. My AMH has come back as 1.4 which is extremely low, the range for my age (38) is 5.5 to 37 with an average of 14. I'm still in a bit of shock as to how low it is. I'm waiting to re-do progesterone d21 on Monday and HyCoSy the following Monday. Has any one had AMH so low? What treatment options were discussed with you? Any help or guidance would be really appreciated.

Thanks Xx

Hello Jengi. I was in a very similar place to you. High FSH, very low AMH (aged 33) and very low AFC. I was advised to go straight for IVF. Clomid just wants suitable or worth it. When you get your other results you’ll be able to see where you are and what options are.

It’s easier said that done not to panic. But do come here and ask questions and get to that next appointment fast x

Thanks emu2016. Was your IVF successful? I guess its just a waiting game now until I get all results and speak to a consultant.

Sadly not. We only got 3 eggs. But my issue is low quality and not very many either. :(

Plenty of women have had great successes with low AmH though xx

Hiya Jengi,

I’m 31 and my AMH is low for my age. It should be round 19.7 and mine is 6.1 the two options that were given to me were clomid or ivf. I was put on clomid for a couple of months whilst I was losing weight in order to qualify for ivf and turned out I wasn’t ovulating either. So IVF was the best option for us. So I did the short protocol IVF and I’m now 15 weeks pregnant after my first attempt on IVF.

Thank you. I’m so relieved that it had worked because I was hoping to have to some frozen embryos if I needed them and none of the other embryos were viable to freeze xxxx

Hiya jengi the AMH test had me so stressed in the begining of it all i was 28 at the time they tested mine and it came back at 5.39 i was heartbroken i thought that was it ...... the nurses reasured me and did a retest i was adimant that was it and it would only show a lower score but it never and it came back at 10.99 the nurse couldn’t understand why it had gone up so i asked for a retest again to rule out the first one been a blip anyway my recent amh is 17.00 i know it’s still very low for my age but compared to the first test results theres a bit of a difference ..... i felt a whole load better also when i had my tv scan and actually saw the follicles already in my overies 9 on the left and 6 on the right all in good size so try and not let the AMH stress you out so much the consultant still cant understand it xxx

I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened to. Mine was measured as 4.7 (at age 33). Was told I had to have ivf asap, but unfortunately we had to wait 6 months to be eligible for funding. They did it at the clinic after those 6 months and it was 10.7.

It seems so random sometimes! And there's people stressing over a number which varies hugely on what seems to be a daily basis.

I have no idea what my actual AMH level is but it probably is low, but ivf worked first time for us.

Hi Jengi, i have low AMH too and I understand when you initally hear this its very upsetting. My consultant advised us to go straight to IVF, he said clomid releases alot of eggs all at once and with a low AMH i didnt have alot to lose though I have seen from being on here others have been offered clomid so every clinic will give differing advice I suppose. Best of luck whatever route u go down 💞 xx

Thank you very much Xx

Hey sweetie at 41 mine came back at 0.5!! Gutted and felt like I went through a grieving process. I have two children so thought I would just have my coil removed and get pregnant. We were advised whilst I may get pregnant the egg Quality would be poor. We opted fir donor eggs It is such a shock to deal with and I understand how you feel. I think some clinics still do ivf at your levels. Good luck and big hugs xxx
